Description God..it's over. Finally, after being delayed a day or so, an\long with multiple other problems, I completed the scorecard. And while I'm a bit satisfied with how it came out, I hated having to make it.

For starters, actually finding the show was a pain. I was able to find Season 1 online in good quality fairly easily, but the shorts were a PAIN to watch. I originally thought only the Magimoible app had them, but after watching 6 shorts, I was stuck. Them it turned out the CN app had them, so I had to watch the shorts AGAIN because the Magimoible ones were interactive. This is also why I didn't review the Adventure Academy shorts because they were interactive (not to mention the fact that they sucked). And they had Vlogs I touch because that would too much for this scorecard. I was able to find the episodes, but that was because a friend in another country sent me them because they had aired there, and even then, some were in subpar quality.

And we haven't even gotten to making the scorecard. The wiki has all the title cards, so you think putting them in would be a cinch. Yeah..no. You see, some genius at the wiki decided to make the cards for the shorts and the cards for the actual show different sizes, which means I had to resize a majority of them and make them look distorted. Not only that, but some of them had lengths that were pixels off, making the entire process of actually putting them there frustrating. And another thing is that they're not even in an order! As in, in the files, the title card for Mushroom Menace was first, and then Quest For Knowledge came after. So I had to organize them into the order that you see before you now.

But wait, there's more!

You see, when I was about halfway with this scorecard about a few days ago (in terms of production, this is the lastest one because of the problems I mentioned earlier), the computer just crashed for no reason. And I had forgotten to save, so all the progress I had done up to that point was gone. So in the end, I actually made i.5 scorecards for the price of one. Do you see how frustrating that is?

Anyway, I hate the process of how I made the scorecard, but enough whining. IT'S MOTHERFUCKING REVIEWING TIME!

(You know...this actually is a pretty good catchphrase.)

======================================================================================

It's the Warriors For Hire and the Mighty Magiswords! Finally, a show that I've actually wanted to review for a while, and I get a chance to. And like the previous show I reviewed (Nichijou), it's a mixed bag. It doesn't have Gumball Syndrome (which is a relief, but it's still mixed in its own little way. Let's talk about why.

Well, first, I absolutely adore the creativity in this show. When it comes to the plots, while half of them are cliches, the other half do something creative with them, such as an interesting twist I didn't see coming and makes sense or having the jokes be creative themselves. The creativity also goes well with the Magiswords. They are the solution to many problems in the show, and not only are the Magiswords themselves unique, but the ways there are used make the episodes creative. You might see

DOLPHIN MAGISWORD!

taken out and it would do something completely unexpected. I also have to praise the Super Teamwork Combos due to their creativity as well. I mean, even with the occasional cliches in the plot (I'll get to those in a bit), the creativity is something that shines throughout the show's run.

Another good thing about this show is the humor. While Season 1 had some decent humor with it's faster pacing and character interactions, Season 2 stepped up its game massively by making the animation more expressive. ANd most people who know me know that I love over-the-top humor. Next, to dialogue-based humor, over-the-topness is one of my favorite types of humor simply because it goes all out. It doesn't hold back, and not holding back is something I both respect and enjoy greatly when it comes to...anything really. This case specifically works because of the silly tone of the show. It doesn't take itself seriously, but it doesn't have to. And for that, I enjoy it quite a lot.

BUT...for every good thing in a mixed bag, there is an equally bad thing. ANd for how good the humor is in Season 2, they traded in their pacing, which instead of being fast-paced and actually, you know, decent, it became deathly slow, to the point where even if there was good humor, I was too bored by a lack of substance and the episode not really getting anywhere to care. I don't see why fast pacing is a problem; it moves the episode along quicker and is much better than the slow pacing of shows like The Loud House. But rushed pacing definitely is. ANd that's the worst part about this show: contrivance. You see, many of this show's worst episodes (Sibling Sorcery, Taming Of The Swords, Hideous Hound, Elect To Decline) rely on the characters being absolute idiots and not seeing the bad situation right in front of them because...reasons, the twists being obvious and/or stupid, all around obnoxious characterization, a situation happening that makes no sense or some combination of them. This makes the episode feel stupid and wonder why I watched them to begin with.

I've also neglected to talk about the characters. I mean, for a show to avoid GS, it has to have good characters. Well...not exactly. I haven't talked about the characters because there simply is nothing to be talked about when it comes to them. They're not bland, just there. Mildly inoffensive as a whole, and I can't be bothered to care about them. I will say some have interesting backstories and the character interactions are great, but nothing really of note stands out about them.

So, what have we learned today, viewers? Mighty Magiswords is another mixed bag that thankfully avoided GS. It has good humor, creativity, and nice animation/art style, but damn, these episodes have some of the worst contrivances I've seen since TLH. Overall, I'd say skip it. The good episodes are good, but the bad ones are really bad.

Also, if someone could find the rest of the Season 2 episodes in good quality, I would be forever grateful.

Neat analysis. I've got a review of my own in my journal entries too that goes a little more in-depth. My overall score is pretty much the same as yours and everyone else who reviewed the show. About a 5 or 6/10
