It started just like any other storyA regular guy and his friends
Searching for love, getting ready for the big day coming up
Living la vie en rose, everything was coming together for me
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you
For making this story mine
So many choices, so little time
To find the one who's right for me
But beneath the surface, the story changed
As the Day grows closer, my friends seem unable to tell right from wrong
Day by day my flowers wither, one by one they die
My reality is broken, scattered pieces on the floor
That's when She takes off her mask
Revealing her deeds, declaring she did it all for me
I am dumbfounded by her madness, she has clearly lost her mind!
My mind reeling, I hear her speak my name, but also a name I've never known
She speaks as though through me, to someone on the other side
Saying she knows none of this is real; the prospect must've driven her mad
My mind screaming, I struggle to make sense of her words
If none of this is real, then what is it?
Some sick game? That's the only explanation I can find
But if this is all a game, I'm no longer sure
Whether I'm the player, or just another pawn

This is one of my favorites that you've written when it comes to the topic of DDLC. A lot of people usually focus on the girls' povs, like you said, and I'm really glad to see that you focused on the MC/protagonist's pov as well. That last line really hit me hard, "Whether I'm the player, or just another pawn". Although I know all too well that this is based off of DDLC, it also reminds me of a toxic relationship, whether it being romantic or platonic. Seeing as Monika did it all for the protagonist, even though being abusive and controlling at the same time. I really enjoyed reading this, great work.

I honestly originally thought of this in the form of a song, but over time it became more poemy (don't even know if that's a word haha).
I don't think there's a lot of thought to MC as his own character in the community, since he's the one we see everything through, but in a regular rpg, where he is part of the game in a different way, we would feel more for him than now that he's our projection in the game.
That's kinda what I was going for; he realizes not only that it's a story and he's just a part of it, but also that it's not even written for him, but someone else seing it through his eyes. I see Monika as not wanting the protagonist, but rather the player controlling the path of the game.
I see what you mean with a bad relationship. Even though it really wasn't on my mind when writing this, I can see this representing a guy whose lover is first "eliminating the competition", then gives him up for another man.
I do like how we both see different things in what we write. Thank you for the kind words

Yes, I can see how this could be similar to a song, but it turned out well either way. I am also glad that we can see things in each other's writing, I can't wait to see what's to come.
