Red and Black OCs generally are made because the person believes the colors to just look cool together, and then they go OVERBOARD with it.
There's nothing wrong with an OC having that color scheme, but when they start becoming the "dark shadow God of red firey flame with red demon eyes and fangs and wings and fiery hooves that's better than celestia and sombra combined..." etc, then red and black OCs become subjectively terrible.
