This is my FIRST mate contest entry #2 because Zuri came through as a tiebreaker!

~ Short Story of Stefan and Zuri ~

As the two of them started hanging out recently, Zuri has been teased by her friends about Stefan whenever she meets him and it was getting embarrassing for her so she decided to avoid him today and will apologize to him later. She was already getting worried about her feelings toward Stefan when his mate just passed away. It did hurt her to avoid him at all times to keep her from having feelings for him but she didn’t have a choice since Stefan still need time to move on from Sage’s death. Whenever Zuri tries to go out, she kept seeing Stefan, waiting for her when she is on her break but she continues to avoid him while sneaking past him to keep herself out of his sight.

It was such a long day of avoiding Stefan and she was exhausted to keep this up and took a break on an empty quiet field. She closes her eyes, inhaling and exhaling deeply while feeling the fresh cool air pushing on her face and through her mane and tail. After resting there all alone, her ears perk backward as she heard a rustle in the bushes behind her. She wasn’t sure if there was a demon hiding in the bushes because she had her necklace around her neck the whole time to protect her angel blood from demons so they wouldn’t kill her and everyone in The-SilverBrook-Herd . While thinking about it, she is doing something stupid to check the bushes for herself and it could the end for her once she gets killed by any moment. As she was going to get closer, a stranger immediately jumps out of the bushes and tackle her down onto the ground and her necklace flew out of her neck, hitting onto the ground. She was like she is prey, laying on her back, and getting ready to be killed. She had her eyes close while she was on the ground with someone above her and then suddenly, she heard a deep ahem from someone that she recognized.

Her eyes quickly flew open widen, staring up at Stefan who was just grinning and trying to hold in his laughter. “Did he… Did he just scare prank me?” She thought to herself, soon her face started to turn red in embarrassment but she was not happy that he pranked her like that because she almost had a heart attack that there might be a demon hiding in the bushes. And now Stefan started to burst out laughing as his eyes are closed and still couldn’t stop because of her reaction.

Zuri quietly narrows her eyes, continuing staring at him, and soon quickly tackling him down onto the ground but Stefan manages to tackle her down more as they were playing wrestle on the ground. This time Zuri tackle him down, keeping him pinned down onto the ground with a proud look and smirk on her face. “And Zuri has won!” She said proudly, laughing a little as Stefan was giving her the annoyed look on his face with his eyes narrow. “Aw, you’re so cute that you’re being annoyed right now.” She told him, laughing again that was causing Stefan to blush for being called cute. Soon she got off of him, looking over the ground where her necklace was laying at. “It must have slipped out when I was tackle…” She thought to herself, slowly approaching it, and picking it up with her mouth before Stefan got up from the ground. When she was going to put it on herself, Stefan immediately took the necklace from her mouth to put it on her around her neck as he was helping. He then stared right into her eyes that made Zuri blushes a little and her heart pounding in her chest because this situation is making her nervous and bringing back her feelings for him so she quickly looks away from him to avoid eye contact. Stefan was confused about why did she look away from him but he took a step closer to her, putting his neck around her neck with his head on her shoulder to continue the moment that they were having until Zuri ruined that when she look away from him. They stay there all afternoon and it was already evening while they were chatting about their day and such. Zuri even apologizes to him about avoiding him all day but he forgave her when he finally understands why.
