This is a much more cleaned up and censored version of my earlier rant (( See the messy, nasty one here thesilverhyena.deviantart.com/… )) of why the Fairy type should never have been introduced and why it's an unnecessary nerf to the dragon type.((As usual, this is my opinion. If you can't handle other people's opinions, read something else! To deny trolls, even as much as a few seconds of online acknowledgment until their post can be deleted and blocked, I've decided to just Block all comments. While I enjoy many of the comments from Deviants with a life, I've decided it's more fun to deny the lifeless ones.
Here we have my Gardevoir, Klinger ((I swear, if you don't get that nickname, then you've been living under a rock somewhere!)), who yes, is a male Gardevoir, looking at himself in horror.
"What... what has Game Freak done to... m-me?" Klinger asks himself, his voice shaking. "Fai-Fairy type? What... what is this? It... it makes no sense.... It... it just.... I don't want to be a friggin' Fairy! I get laughed at enough as it is." Klinger glanced over at his battle partner, a female Garchomp named Arcee. How... how is this possible? A Fairy super effective against a dragon? It made no logical sense! Klinger and Arcee had been through countless battles together, whether it be Singles, Doubles, and even a Rotation match here and there. How was he to explain this horrendous new change to her? "What's wrong, Klinger? You don't look so good." Arcee asked, as she approached her dear friend and battle partner. Klinger took in a deep, shaky breath before he explained. "Have... have you heard about the new type? The Fairy type?" Klinger asked. Arcee just snorted. Fairy type, what a freaking joke! If even a tad insulting. "Pft... yeah, I heard! All those unskilled whiners on the various internet forums and youtube screaming and whining that Dragon Types are, and I quote, "too strong!" and need "balancing out". Too strong, my tail fin, Dragons only get a Super Effective hit against other Dragons, and we're also very vulnerable to Ice types... you've seen the way Bellatrix looks at me every time we're on the field together." Arcee answered, "But why are you so bothered, dear friend? You're not a Dragon. And I've never seen you this shaken, not even in the thick of a heated battle against one of those annoying Umbreons!" she asked, gently placing one of her clawed forearms on Klinger's shoulder. "Be-because... Arcee... Game Freak... has turned me into... a Fairy Type!" Klinger blurted out. He felt so ashamed, so unclean. He didn't want to be a Fairy type. He didn't want to be the product designed to appease 6-13 year old girls who can't seem to figure out why their entire teams of cutesy Pokémon get obliterated by their big brother's Garchomp or Salamence! "I... I AM one of those Fairy Types now... so are Marril and Jigglypuff... and there's a whole slew of new ones, including that abomination of an Eevee evolution called Sylveon!" Klinger explained further. Arcee took in a heavy breath, watching painfully as her friend turned away from her. But it wasn't Klinger's fault: he didn't choose for this vile plague of pink filth to befall him! "Buddy... Klinger... we still love you. You've always had my back on the battlefield, and I'll always have yours." Arcee said, doing what she could to give her friend comfort while he adjusted to his new type changes. But Klinger was right indeed... Sylveon was an abomination that needed to be stopped!
For the record, Klinger and Arcee aren't mates or anything, just good friends. And yes, in my games, I actually really do have a male Gardivoir named Klinger and a female Garchomp named Arcee!
So I know, you may be asking "Well, if you hate the new Fairy Type so much, then why are you getting Pokémon X or Y?!" Well I'll tell you! Because I am needed to find every way imaginable to take down these incipit disgraces to the Pokémon Universe, particularly with the Dragon Type! Or, find other creative ways to make people despise this new, unneeded type! Plus I want a Fennekin!
Okay, let's take a look at some of these new Fairy Type Pokémon... I mean really look at them. On top of Fairy being good against Dragon not making a lick of sense, most of these Fairy types have lame, stupid, and even repulsive designs that make you want to vomit! Take a look at them right here, on Serebii, www.serebii.net/xy/pokemon.sht…
Sylveon: Truth be told, (as you may have guessed already), I don't really like Sylveon that much. In fact, you could even say that I hate Sylveon. It just looks... dumb, WAAAYYYY too foofy! I'd even go as far as to call it the Epic Fail of the Eeveelution lineup. When it comes down to it, Sylveon isn't cute or endearing... it's really downright ugly! You heard me! It's freaking ugly! With those stupid ribbons, dumb bows, and overly exaggerated eyes... and don't even get me started on the soft pink... puke! It just looks ugly! This is the first Eevee evolution that I genuinely do not like at all! But we'll see what any other fairies are like...
Jigglypuff and Marril: Two old faces getting an unnecisary makeover. The Fairy type really just seems slapped on, like it was a last minute decision or something, I don't know. They were lame choices to begin with, and even lamer now. Marril was way overhyped when the coming of gen 2 had been announced, (Does anyone remember the Pikablu rumor? I do!). We finally had a chance to get one, it was rare, hard to catch and... it sucked... then they gave it a pre-evolution or 'baby' form and... it sucked! Jigglypuff? I hate it! She's annoying in the anime, the most worthless character in the Super Smash Bros lineup, (any of them, in fact, why has she infested all three games so far?) and will still be useless come Xand Y, and I look forward to stomping all over her via Salamence or Garchomp regardless!
Gardivoir: Again, it seems like they just slapped the Fairy type onto this one, thereby staining one of my favorite Psychic types for good with rotten, pink, poofy filth! Still, as stated above, I'm still going to try out the Fairy Type, even though I really don't like it. So far, Gardevoir is the only Fairy type I can see myself using without vomiting (Aside from Xerneas, but I'll get to him later.) Gardevoir is very nostalgic to me, as I had one on my first run through of Pokémon Ruby version. Despite the unnecessary change, I still like Gardevoir, and as I'll explain further in this rant, I'll see if I can utilize this pokemon to make people hate the Fairy Type!
UPDATE: Mawile/MegaMawile: *sigh* Again, Fairy type just added on and here ya go, howdy how are ya! Geez. Granted, Mawile's always been one of those pokemon that's been swept under the rug as it was never very impressive since it was introduced in 3rd gen. I always thought it was kind of strange that this guy didn't get an upgrade like Yanma or Gligar did in 4th gen. It's certainly getting more attention now! But wait... there's more! There's also now a "Mega" Mawile, also Steel/Fairy type. (I'll dig up more on these "Mega" pokemon later when I feel like it, but bottom line, I think that it's something ELSE lazy players will use to break the game.) Don't get me wrong, Mawile was in need of an evolution... but not quite like this. Still, if it turns out that the Fairy is weak to the Steel type, Mawile or it's "Mega" evolution could make an ironic addition to an Anti-Fairy team and as much as I detest the Fairy type, it is another that I might consider giving a test run.
((On a side note about these new "Mega Evolutions", give em' to Pokémon like Delibird, Spinda, Dunsparce, or Smeargle. You know, Pokémon that are often swept under the rug and forgotten! Pokémon that actually NEED a boost!))
((See here what I think about the new Mega Pokémon, thesilverhyena.deviantart.com/… ))
Flabebe: What... what the heck am I even looking at here? Honestly, you'd think this thing would keel over if any Pokémon, even a Magikarp sneezed on it! I will give it credit for being a halfway creative design, even if I'm not a fan of it...but I still find it insulting that this flower hugger is super effective against a freaking dragon!
Swirlix: Okay... this is it... this is it... honesty, who said "Hey, lets make a cotton candy pokemon. I mean, the players loved an ice cream cone and pile of trash pokemon, right?" Who honestly thought this was a good idea?! Are you starting to see what I mean by these Fairy types being insulting now? I mean..... COTTON CANDY? *headdesk*
Spritzee: The Perfume Pokémon... really? Geh...gah.....GAHHHHHH! Dumb... that's the only word I can think of right now. So what does it do, exactly? Choke the Dragon on overpowering, noxious fumes? Wouldn't Poison be a more appropriate Type for that? Anyway, stupid, incipit, vomit inducing design, clearly made to cater to the 6-13 year old girls! I look forward to crushing every single one I come across!
Dedenne: *stares open-mouthed* They.... they..... THEY'RE NOT EVEN TRYING NOW! That's Raichu! Look at it, it's F***ing Raichu! How... how... what... what are they... doing?! It's friggin' Raichu! What have they done to the Pikachu family? What have they done?! Why are they ripping off their own designs? This isn't just insulting the Dragon user crowd, this is like a literal slap in the face to Pokémon fans everywhere! Okay, I better move on before putting my fist through the monitor!
Xerneas: Yes, the main Legendary and face of Pokemon X is in fact, a Fairy type. But you... you know what? I... I actually do like this one... yes, you heard me say it, I honestly like this guy! Before I even knew about the Fairy type, I pre-ordered X because I liked the way the "cool stag" looked, and as much as I love dragons, I was worried that the now Yveltal, would be another Legendary Dragon type. (Hey, I love Dragons, otherwise I wouldn't be so pissed off at this insulting new Fairy Type, but you gotta admit, the Legendary Dragons were starting to get old, I find it rather refreshing that Yveltal is Dark/Flying... but he looks like a dragon, so that's still cool!) But back to Xerneas, so far, aside from Gardevoir, he's the only Fairy type that looks like he has a shred of dignity about him. He looks cool and powerful, and his signature move, Geomancy... it just sounds awesome and powerful! After seeing this stag in the first released trailer of Pokémon X and Y, that's when I decided to preorder X over Y. Come to think of it, Xerneas looks a lot like Harry Potter's Patronus Charm, doesn't he? Anywho, Xerneas, you may be a horrendous new type... but you still look badass!
I know, after this, you're probably thinking now "What, so do you just hate, hate, HATE all the new pokemon then?!". And if you are saying that, obviously you didn't read the praise that I just gave Xerneas, did you? Anyways, if you must know... I don't hate all the new pokemon, in fact some of them I really, REALLY like! (Granted, they should have just left Mewtwo alone, that bad boy was fine the way he was!) But, let's give a rundown of some of the other new non-Fairy types X and Y has given us.
The Starters: Chespen, Fennekin, and Froakie. I'm lumping these guys all together for spaces' sake, but I like all three of these guys... even if Chespen does look a little bit silly. (Then again, 5th gen's Oshawott looked silly to, and look what it turns into!) Here's hoping Chespin has an awesome final form! Froakie is cute, and there really aren't a ton of frog pokemon out there. As with Chespin, hopefully he gets a worthy final form. But of course, me being me, there's a choice between a frog, a muskrat, and a fennic fox...hmmm, which one do you think I'm starting with? Fennekin is just so cute, so cute, so cute! I just want to hug and cuddle it! *squee!* Oh, by the way... ahem... FENNEKIN BETTER NOT EVOLVE INTO ANOTHER FIRE/FIGHTING TYPE! It was groundbreaking in 3rd gen, still acceptable in 4th, but by the time 5th came around... it was just stale! Still, Fennekin is awesome and I can't wait to get one on my team!
Pancham and Pangoro: Does anyone remember Spinda, the Spot Panda Pokémon from 3rd Gen? Probably not, it was just another worthless Normal type that's gotten lost in the sands of time. But these guys... oh my gosh, I love em'! Pancham is adorable (way cuter then any of those foofy fairy types!) and... look what he turns into.... OMG! I've gotta have one of those! There is already a spot on my team reserved for Pangoro, I mean... my gosh! It's like Kung Fu Panda on steroids! This thing just look badass! Dark/Fighting is a pretty rare type combo! See? Game Freak has it in them to create cool new pokemon too!
Fletchling and Talonflame: Pretty standard starter bird, normal/flying type. It's cute enough, but oh my gosh, look what it turns into! Talonflame blows all the other "starter birds", (Like Pidgeot and Noctowl) out of the water! First of all, I love that it's Fire/Flying, not Normal/Flying. Second... this is like... it's as if Captain Falcon from, F-Zero was reincarnated into a Pokémon! Epic win on Game Freak's part on this design!
Meekuru and Gogoat: It took them 6 gens, but finally, we have a goat pokemon! Plus I love the fact that you can ride Gogoat around. Forget the bike, give me one of these things! With five weakness to three strengths, Grass types really don't get enough love.
Helioptile: Umm... I don't really know what to think of this thing... but it's certainly original? *shrug*
Scatterbug, Spewpa, Vivillon: Meh... just seems like another generic Bug/Flying type to me. Scatterbug and Spewpa don't exactly float my boat, but I have nothing against Vivillon. But we'll see what it looks like. *shug*
Noivern: Now this thing... this thing I like! I like me some new dragons! Cool, Gargoyle/Bat design... and are those speakers on his ears? Whatever, BLAST THOSE FAIRY TYPES OUT OF SKY! I'm rooting for you! Cool design... even if it is another Dragon/Flying type. X4 weakness to Ice again, but if he can just learn Earthquake I might have a 6th gen member of Team Tremors right here! Still, one thing I am a tad disappointed about is that since this Pokémon is obviously based off a Wyvern, (Noivern, Wyvern), Game Freak missed an opportunity to create the first Poison/Dragon type, (Considering that wyverns have that venomous stinger at the end of their tails.) Regardless, I might have trouble choosing between one of these or a Talonflame as my team's designated Flyer.
Clauncher and Skrelp: The quintessential version exclusive Water types, Clauncher is exclusive to X and Skrelp to Y. Skrelp is a Poison/Water hybrid while Clauncher is solid water. I have nothing against their designs, really, even if we already have a Seahorse pokemon family already. Regardless, I don't have anything against these guys. In fact I look forward to trying them out, particularly Skrelp. (Gotta love the GTS!)
Litleo: More kitty Pokémon are always welcome sights! He kind of reminds me a little of Kovu from Lion King II. I... I'm not really sure if anyone's ever seen or heard of that movie for that matter, (on a side not, first Lion King was WAY better.) But anyways, I hope this guy will turn into some sort of cool, flame-maned lion beast thing that kicks ass! I love this little guy!
Honedge: Ghost/Steel, I rather like the typing. Interesting design, I'll say. I might consider adding one on my team. It brings me back a little to the days where we'd set aside an entire day to play D&D, and the intelligent weapons that you'd occasionally find. In fact, Meta Knight's Galaxia sword comes to mind. The animation for when Honedge is released into battle is pretty cool, he unsheathes himself and all that, and it's just... different... but a good different. A ghost possessing a sword, I like the idea actually.
Inkay and Malamar: I've been waiting a long time for a Psychic/Dark type! Although this isn't what I had anticipated for the first of this unique type, it's still pretty cool. Ultimate Squidbillies!
Yveltal: This guy is cool! The Destruction Pokémon, just sounds intimidating! And I'm rather happy that it's NOT another Dragon type, actually! Legendary dragons were awesome in 3rd gen (Rayquaza all the way!), still a welcome sight in 4th gen, but as much as I liked Reshiram and Zekrom... yeah, enough with the legendary dragons already! Anyways, Dark/Flying, while nothing new, is still relatively rare and cool. I also find it interesting how they took something as simple as the letter Y, and turned it into a fierce Wyvern.
Now...*whew* Onto my original message!
This is a message from D.A.F.T., Dragons Against Fairy Types.
Okay, with the newly announced Pokémon X and Y, blah, blah, blah, the new Fairy type has been announced... and from what I've learned on my own...so far, I don't like it! The Dragon type does NOT need to be nerfed down... especially by fairies? Why freaking fairies? It makes no sense! Dragons are RESILIANT to magic, and fairies are what... MAGIC! How can some poofy, fluffy fairy take down a mighty dragon? It's just not right! If anything, Dragons should be super effective against the Fairy type! Anyways, this is why I think that the Fairy type, is in fact, the single WORST addition to ANY generation of Pokémon.
Think about this, the Dragon type is only Super Effective against one type... JUST ONE TYPE... Itself! Dragon is not very effective against Steel and is Neutral towards everything else, up until now, anyways! Plus the dragon type is weak to Ice, (Which makes a hell of a lot more sense then stupid little fairies, since ice freezes the wings and cripples movements.) If anything, give the Ice type a new resilience towards Dragons, thereby making the Dragon type Not Very Effective against Ice. Hell, even maybe make the Steel type super effective against Dragons. You know, knights of the olden days, going off to slay the dragon with a STEEL lance or sword! Makes sense... more then freakin' fairies! Plus many, if not most Dragons are mixed with the Flying type, giving these guys a X4 Weakness to ice types, and there are now Rock types to watch out for. Yes, I know what you're all gonna pounce on next... the resistances! Yes! Okay, as stated above, the Dragon type is only super effective against other Dragon types, often making dragons rely on a duel type for a STABed Super Effective hit. Dragons are resilient to Water, Grass, Electric, and Fire, which balances things out. (Balance, a popular word people like to use to defend the Fairy type for existing and being super effective/immune to Dragons, but really, it's not balancing out anything! If anything, it's freaking nerfing!)
Any competent trainer can take out an entire team of Dragons without much trouble if they know what they're doing. I for one, think that the Fairy type will break the game and make Dragons null and void, plus they'll be spammed all over WiFi battles and basically become the Next overused and overpowered type in a way. (The Dragon type may be used a lot, but as I've stated above, it's really not as overpowered as some of these people would lead you to believe.) The Fairy type really wasn't needed!
Back in gen 1, the Psychic type WAS actually broken, and at that time, the only Bug and Ghost moves either sucked or could only be learned by bad pokemon, (like Beedrill! Yeah, that Twinneedle can only do so good if Mewtwo or Alakazam don't blast you with a Psychic first! Or, have we forgotten about the overwhelmingly powerful Lick attack from Gengar? Base power of 20? Yeah....) But the Dark and Steel types were needed to fix a broken mechanic! The Dragon type is not the be all and end all of all types, and is not as Overpowered as some of you people like to claim. You ask me? The Fighting type is overpowered! Yes, you heard me right, FIGHTING TYPE! Why? Well, let's see, Fighting only has two weakness, Flying and Psychic, it may have no effect on Ghosts, true, but it's super effective against FIVE other types! Dark, Rock, Normal, Steel, and Ice! That's more then any other type in the game! Fairies just seem like a crutch for uncreative players to utilize... especially if Game Freak decides to go the disturbing route that I've heard about that Fairy type being completely immune to the Dragon type... which again, makes about as much sense as Star Wars; The Phantom Menace! (Gee, and I thought Darkrai was a crutch! Maybe I'll have to alter my Darkrai Clause to accommodate people who piss me off by spamming Fairy types! Yeah, I gotta spare Darkrai to send into my X game when the time comes! By the way, my Darkrai Clause, for those of you who don't know, is that I wont use my Darkrai against you unless you too have a Darkrai on your team, or have used a Darkrai on me in the past.) Fairy Type... the new Crutch Pokemon... yeah... that'll work! So, is the new Fairy type just a crutch for uncreative people fed up with Dragon users that have found clever and resourceful ways to give their unSTABED Dragons a boost? I'll let you decide... but the answer's yes! Anyways!
One common argument that people on internet forums (and youtube) love to use is that the reason the Fairy type should be super effective against the dragon type is that in some mythology, fairies are actually evil, spiteful creatures that corrupt and possess: not exactly the cute little Disney Fairies. More like demons, actually. That is true, yes. But here's where that argument falls flat. First of all, there's already a type to cover the demonic entity... it's called the Dark type! Second... have you actually looked at these fairy type designs? I don't think the evil, spiteful little fiends are what Game Freak had in mind... *sigh*
Another common argument is the whole "Well, the Dragon type is overpowered and needs to be balanced out!" or "Yes, finally, something to put those big, mean Dragon Types in their place!" (Okay, that last one was more of a statement, but it just goes to prove how uncreative these people who support the Fairy Type are.) As stated above, I just gave you a great big explanation as to why the Dragon Type is not as overpowered as people would like you to think. Another better, stronger, faster Dragon type, a sturdy Ice type, or even a Steel type can whittle down if not downright obliterate a Dragon Type!
And... this is the one that really... REALLY pisses me off, "But some Dragon types like Dragonite can learn Surf to take out the Rock types they're Flying type makes them weak against. Or what about Salamences and Garchomps knowing Brick Break to take out Ice types or Earthquake and Flamethrower for Steel types? She Devil!" Okay, if this is you're chosen argument, it's beyond pathetic and I think you've completely missed the whole "strategy" aspect that the Pokémon Games revolve around. This doesn't just go for the Dragon Types, this goes for ANY type and ANY critter you choose for you're roster! Of course people are going have their Pokemon learn moves to cover their weaknesses! It's part of the game! You don't see say, a Mewtwo knowing all Psychic type attacks, do you? Probably not. Usually, a Pokémon like that is loaded up with four diverse attacks like Psychic (for the STAB) and maybe Aura Sphere, Shadow Ball, and Ice Beam to list a possible move set. Me, I went with a more creative "Special Tank" route with Aura Sphere, Psystrike, Calm Mind, and Recover. But that's just an example here to show that it's not just Dragon types covering all their bases! Some fighting types can learn Dark and Ghost type moves to handle a jam with pesky Psychic types, some Electric types can learn Grass Knot, which makes dealing with Ground Types much easier, and so on and so fourth. My Salamence, (I have two actually, Optimus and Khaleesi, Optimus has Intimidate, Khaleesi has Moxie.), both know Brick Break, Earthquake, Dragon Claw, and Dragon Dance. Are they strong? Hell yes. But are they invincible? No! Other dragon types or the dreaded Ice type can take them down with ease, and I don't always get an opening to set up either! But back to my point... complaining that people cover their Dragon's (or any of their other Pokemons') weaknesses in their move sets as a reason for a new type that's super effective against Dragons to be "needed"...? Sorry, that's just sad and I hope you're precious Fairy Types Bite the dust first!
Are Dragon types still getting on your nerves? Try out some of these Pokémon on your team. Go on, see if you can mix and match some team members around and accommodate for an "Anti-Dragon" pokemon.
Weavile is a great choice and my personal favorite Ice type! It's fast and has High physical attack power. Cover it's low defenses with a focus sash. My preferred move set in Night Slash, Ice Punch, Brick Break, and Swords Dance. Rely on you're speed to get in the first strike, and with the focus sash, you'll survive the first hit. Once you set up, this combination can wreck entire teams! Another option is to wait to evolve you're Sneasel until it learns the Priority move, Ice Shard.
Mamoswine isn't fast, but it is fairly Bulky (If you manage to get one out of the Dream World before it shuts down, even better if you get the hidden ability of Thick Fat.) and has good physical attack power. More importantly, Mamoswine can learn Ice Shard, which, no matter how many Dragon Dances you're friend's Haxorus sets up... you're still going first! An Ice Gem gives an added boost on the first turn!
Other good choices include Lapras and Walrein for their Walling capabilities. Or, if you have some creativity in you, you'll discover you're own Anti-Dragon strategies that work well for you.
Another good Anti-Dragon is the Steel/Psychic Metagross. Great base stats (even if speed is on the low side), high psysical attack power, and can learn both Ice Punch (Via Move Tuter in Black/White 2) And the steel type priority move, Bullet Punch: which while still only dealing normal damage to most Dragons, always goes first. PLUS... Metagross' Clear Body will make any Intimidate a Salamence might throw useless! Anyways, a combination of either a Focus Sash or an Air balloon paired with an Agility/Ice Punch combo should make short work of many dragon types. Even STABed Garchomps have trouble one-hitting Metagross due to it's sturdy defenses and hearty Hit points! Metang is easily accessible in Black and White 2, so there's no excuse that you can't pick one up!
And of course (unless you're "Too good" for this option), if you want an Anti-Dragon type pokemon for you're team... GET A DRAGON TYPE POKEMON FOR YOU'RE TEAM! Most Dragon types have cool designs and are easy to use (If a bit of a pain to level up and train, I'll admit.) In Black and White 2, there's a shiny Haxorus just parked in the Nature Preserve just begging you to pick it up! Axew is relatively easy to find in the Mistralton Cave, and let's not forget about the Dark/Dragon Deino and Zweilous to be found in the Victory Road! So there are some high-powered dragon in game already, plus in B/W2, there's a way to obtain either a Shiny Dratini or shiny Gible depending on what version you're playing! I'm not kidding, see for you're self right here on Serebii! www.serebii.net/black2white2/g…
There's also the Dream World (While it's still accessible, mind you!) and Global Trade to be used if you have access to Wi-Fi. There's also the transferring of pokemon into you're game from older generations. So there are several ways to get you're own totally nasty dragon type too!
Other options for Anti-Dragons that I can think of off the top of my head include Suicune: sturdy and bulky and can learn Ice Beam or Blizzard, Togekiss: Again, high defenses and can learn Ice Beam, Lucario with Ice Punch, ect, ect. But when it all comes down to it, just giving some of the examples that I have, do you still think that the Fairy type was needed? Granted, not all of these pokemon and moves are going to work for every occasion you run into a Dragon type, but there's really no such thing as "the most perfect" or an "Unbeatable pokemon". I like to think of myself as being a witty and skilled trainer yet there are times I still get my ass kicked! But maybe just try out some of the suggestions listed above, you might be surprised by what else they can take out!
Other Anti-Anything Pokémon:
Darkrai... enough said. (granted, it IS an incredibly cheep tactic to use one of these things, as it is possibly THE most broken pokemon in the game.)
Moody Smeargle: Yes, a Smeargle with the hidden ability Moody can quickly become one of the most terrifying pokemon you'll ever face! A lot of people tend to trash Smeargle for it's low base stats, but the special ability Moody can turn that around in a heartbeat. Moody randomly raises one stat by 2 stages while lowering another random stat by 1. It's a crapshoot, but just equip you're Smeargle with a Focus Sash, max out IVs and EVs in Speed, then put any remainder into Hp or defenses. A nasty move set (considering Smeargle's move pool IS virtually unlimited!) is Spore, Mind Reader, Sheer Cold, and Roost/Recover/Protect.
Accelgor: A humble Bug type that many people seem to ignore. Now for this one to work, you really have to know you're opponent and predict what they're gonna do, but if you can manage that, you're golden! Accelor is fast, REALLY fast. This thing can run laps around Weavile, Jolteon, or even Crobat! And it can learn the move Me First, which lets you use you're opponent's move against them before they do. Now, what would happen should you're best bud send up his Draco Meteor spamming Hydregion or Outrage spamming Haxorus?
But, since odds are you're probably not going to read this, here's something else to choke on while you're over here.
*Sigh* Well, since Game Freak is nerfing my beloved dragons whether we like it or not, lets look at some other things to tip the scales once again. First of all, to balance these little pixies out, perhaps they should have some harsh weaknesses to make people think twice about overusing them. Here's a list I've compiled. First, let's look over some types I can actually see Fairy being good against. Now I'm not saying that the Fairy should be good against EVERY type listed here, but it makes more sense then being good against a freaking dragon! Keep in mind, this is ONLY my speculation and opinion here! Don't go all hog wild on me, I'll refer you to my earlier statement at the top of this description!
#3 Normal : Why Normal? Normal only has one true weakness, (Excluding Duel types, of course!) Fighting! Normal may not be Super Effective against anything and it doesn't affect Ghosts, but then again, Ghosts can't touch Normal Types either. Still, this is probably the weakest one on the list... but on the flip side, I can also see the underwhelming Normal type be super effective against Fairy, as it's never been super effective against anything else before. Who knows.
#2 Ghost/Dark/Psychic : Fairies by nature are magical, which would probably mean that their light magic could cut through the undead/demonic/supernatural nature of these three types. Psychic currently is strong against Poison and Fighting, null and void against Dark, and weak to bugs and Ghosts, so we might not want to heap too much misfortune on my second favorite type. Dark is Super Effective against Psychic and Ghost, and is weak to Bug and Fighting. But, so far as of yet, Ghost is only weak to Dark and other Ghosts, and has an immunity to the Normal and Fighting type, (and in the case of some like Gengar and Mismagius with their Levitate, are also safe from Ground!) So Ghost would probably be the one making the most sense out of these three supernatural types.
#1 Fighting : Again, I refer you back to the magical element of the Fairy, the mind over matter that the Psychic type utilizes would also work in this case against the Fighting type, which is mostly about brute force and muscle. Fighting only has two weaknesses, Flying and Psychic, and as listed above, they're super effective against Five different types! You wanna talk about overpowered?
Now, save the best for last! The Types that I think should be able to tear the wings right off these little fairy upstarts; save the best for last, eh? Again, I'm not saying ALL these types should be heaped onto the Fairy type... granted, I wouldn't mind one bit... neither would my dragons! But I know it's not going to happen.
#4 Bug : These poor guys are underrated and often carry heavy weaknesses...with some exceptions, of course. Anyways, Bugs are creepy, crawly, gross things that should make any fae creature cringe in fear!
#3 Rock/Fire :These two types tied for third place. Rock... well, squish those fairies like the bugs that they are! As for Fire, fry those little upstarts to a crisp, frying their delicate flowers, ribbons, bows, and wings! A bit of Smoke Inhalation ought to round things off for those type picks!
#2 Steel : Why Steel? Well, throughout folklore, it is often believed that fae creatures are not fond of iron... especially cold iron, as it greatly wounds them. Plus, like the rock type listed above... Steel would squish a fairy! As of yet, Steel is only super effective against Ice and Rock types, though it is bulky most of the time. Still, steel does suffer from heavy weaknesses from Ground, Fighting, and Fire. I say this underrated type gets some more love. Speaking of underrated, look below for #1!
#1 POISON! : This is the big, main one! Dear Lord, the poor poison type has got to be the weakest type in the game! It's only super effective against Grass, is weak to Psychic and Ground, (Common types!), and is useless against Steel! But, it makes sense that the corrupting toxicity of Poison would wither those cute little fairies down to lifeless husks! So, if they insist of Nerfing the Dragons, let's breath life back into the underrated Poison type! Anyone seen Ferngully lately? (Dear Lord, I can't stand that movie!) But still, Poison kills and corrupts the plants and nature that fairies need to survive and kills off their magic. How's this for an idea? Fairy type moves should have no effect on Poison types! If a mighty dragon can't strike a Fairy with a Dragon Claw, then why should Fairy magic have any effect on the toxic Poison Type? If that's the case, then I might be able to forgive Game Freak for what they've done to the dragon type.
Of course, there's always the option of making a team bent on killing Fairy Types... which could be a lot of fun! (And will piss off little sissies everywhere to boot!) But we have to wait and see what "official" weakness the Fairy type has before designing can commence. I really hope the Fairy type is weak to steel though... Dialga all the way! Steel/Dragon, what a slap in the face that would be to Fairy Fans everywhere! Tehe!
Okay... and here's one last tidbit for you to choke on. My last stand. Remember how I said that I'd utilize Gardevoir in a way that will make people hate the Fairy type? Well, I'll suggest that as a last resort, fall back on the old "If you can't Beat them, Join them!" tactic. Make a team of Fairy type pokemon... yes, you heard me right, all Fairy types! Just create the most obscene, obnoxious, offensive, and annoying team of pixies imaginable and just make people everywhere hate these things! This would probably be the only application in which a Sylveon would ever see the light of day outside my PC box for Pokedex reasons!
Ah, I can't wait for it, a few months down the line, seeing people's comments of "I hate these stupid Fairy types!" and "These Fairy types are breaking the game!"... just so I can say, "You see, I hated the Fairy Type before it was cool."
Anyways, I'm off... oh yeah... I don't believe in fairies!
Ha...Ha...Ha.... anyone who get's that reference gets a cookie...

Honestly, I don't really like the Fairy type either :/
And also...
...Why did they have to make a Fairy type Eeveelution when they didn't finish the Eeveelutions for the other types? :/
(I got the "I don't believe in fairies" thing...Was that from Peter Pan where if you say "I don't believe in fairies" then the fairies die? XD)

Exactly! Hey Game Freak, let's see a Dragon, Steel, Bug, or even Poison or Ghost type Eeveelution before some stupid fairy, eh?! Alas, I'm afraid I cannot answer that.
Eh, close enough. (I don't want to give out the official answer.) But yes, basically, every time someone says "I don't believe in fairies", somewhere, a fairy falls down dead!

Or Celestial would have made more sense. Me personally, I'd rather see pokemon go a more Macomb route and create a Zombie type. They've already got ghosts, so the idea isn't that farfetched, I find it less farfetched then a Fairy being Super Effective against a Dragon.

My fellow deviant, think of it this way. In the olden times, the Fae folk (or Faeries) were the owners of many myths and legends regarding massive devastation, mind-fucks, and other such things. Rumpelstiltskin was a member of the fae folk (the tricky bastard) and his claim to fame was the theft of children and the terrorizing of a young maiden. Many iterations of normal fairies are devious little bastards who are never between moods, they are either all good, or all bad. Oberon and Titania, King and Queen of the Fae controlled countless armies of small, yet hard to kill bastards. They could control nature, toy with peoples emotions through mental manipulation, steal children and replace them with goblins, transmogrify unsuspecting dopes into prey animals for hungry wolves to eat, distort time and space with little but sheer will power (ala Rip Van Winkle), and Merlin, The most powerful wizard of old time mythology was said to have been the bastard child of either of the two and a mortal. these are beings with powers far beyond normal comprehension. Hell Maleficent was a member of the Fae Folk and She could Become a Dragon and could rain down the fires of hell on anyone she so chose ( I mentioned shape shifting being one of their powers, yes?) and cursed a girl to forever slumber should she ever touch a sewing wheel. When I see fairy type, I think back to all of those dark Grimm tales and the plays of William Shakespeare and remember that it is only time and the warping of myths and legends that have allowed such creatures to appear cute. They may seem cutesy, but remember, so did the dwarves who brutally murdered the evil queen, the elves that kept Rip Van Winkle asleep and kidnapped. Faeries have a history of being deceptive, evil little buggers and I can see that happening with Fairy type. Also, there is good news about sylveon. due to it being a special type, and since all special type eeveelutions have been made except one, we can hopefully look forward to a dragon type eeveelution joining us soon.

Yes, I see what you're saying, and perhaps If Game Freak went with either the Fae, Light, or even Celestial type, that would at least make some more sense!(But since most people probably wouldn't get the gist of “Fae”, they had to go with Fairy... which is stupid.) And as I also stated, was that throughout mythology, Fairies have been portrayed more like demonic entities rather then Crysta and Tinker Bell that's marketed towards little kids. The main problem I really have with the Fairy type are the lack luster and lazy designs that these new pokemon have and the slapping on of the new type to older ones. (among other things.) If you really take a look at them, the Dark, malevolent, evil little imps, of the incubus (Merlin, as you mentioned, was half incubus, or basically a male version of the succubus.) weren't exactly what the designers had in mind, rather, they're dumbing things down to a "Dora the Explorer" level and that's mainly what I find most offensive of all, having bee a fan of the franchise since I was eight. Instead of maturing with their fans, they seem to be dumbing it down to little kids. (Mostly little kids who can't figure out why they're entire teams of cutesy pokemon get obliterated by big brother's Garchomp!) Maybe if instead of a cutesy, bow ridden, pink foofy thing, Sylveon for example, was instead a much more malevolent-looking, fiendish creature that wasn't quite a dark type yet still made people wonder "Wait a sec, what is that?”, I probably wouldn't have nearly as big of a beef with this new type, or maybe even with something like Spritzee, maybe go more of a Harpy route with it, make it a Fairy/Poison type (I mean, the Perfume Pokemon? By making it more of a fiend plus a poison type, you've just taken it from implausible, insulting, and stupid to something cool and potentially nasty), instead of something cutesy cute, have it look more fiendish, even though I still firmly believe that the Dragon type doesn't really need any more weaknesses added on, considering it's only Super Effective STAB is against itself unless it's a duel type, with 9 times out of 10 means it takes X4 damage from Ice. Bottom line, it seems to me like instead of maturing with it's older fans, Pokemon is just dumbing itself down, and that's why I'm so pissed off, and I don't understand why more people aren't. Pokemon is my favorite game franchise, and at first, I was really looking forward to X and Y, I mean, two cool new legendaries, we finally have customizable trainers, (no more attack of the clones!), and then they go and ruin the ride with the equivalent of shooting themselves in the foot! Hmhm, let's see, Tinker Bell vs. Smaug... I don't know, but I don't think that Tink would be up to the challenge. Regardless, I just hope they don't blow any other Eeveelutions the way they did with Sylveon.

Yes, I agree with most of your points on this. Dragons don't need anymore weaknesses and the dumbing down of the darker aspects of Faeries really makes it annoying. I also agree with your idea of a darker more sinister Sylveon, going so far as to postulate a what if idea to you. If treating Eevee right whilst it is holding whatever item it gets to evolve into Sylveon evolves it into the pink bow ridden creature, what would happen if, instead, much like the move Frustration, it evolved when treated badly into a much darker variant. I think that would be an interesting take on how emotions can effect an eevee's evolution process which is caused by it's unstable cellular structure. It would make it far more interesting, though I can't see myself purposefully losing battles with an eevee to get it to evolve.

Fairy type strong against dragon type? It doesn't really make since to me if at all!
I can see if the Fairy Type was A LIGHT Type and not a Fairy type. being strong against dragons. But no Nintendo made Gamefreak. (maybe.) go Fairy type for the little kids.
We are not kids anymore! we are teens and adults!
GamFreak has made quite a bit of fuck ups, but then again Nintendo may have forced them In a term. Nintendo has done that to IREM where in "R-type 3." The second stage boss shot sperm..Nintendo made them change that.
I hope for the next generation. (Say GEN 7TH.) Be a new type called SPACE or ALIEN type and the aliens are imune to DARK and FAIRY TYPES along with being strong against a few other types.
The ALIEN or SPACE type will be weak against the BUG type and the POISON type. Physic will be strong against the ALIEN or SPACE type as Wizards always had looked into the stars after all.
SO what do you think about my thoughts and ideas?

That about sums it up right there.
I'm not even sure if they'll make a 7th gen, considering 6th gen is quite a stretch to take already. But still, I don't see how you're suggestions could be bad in any way. I prefer them over the friggin' Fairy type. There's Elgem, who's already been portrayed as an Alien, and there's also Deoxys who's an alien, so there are grounds to cover such a type. Personally, I'd like to see them go an even darker route with a Zombie Type, considering they've got Ghosts, so undead exist within that universe. Just don't hold your breath.

I know that they will make a 7th Gen But In the next 4 to 6 years. They always had and always will.
Space/Alien type would be a very interesting idea. And maybe a legendary pokemon that is a space type. Its gender would be female and It can also give Giratina a new forme as it cares for that lonely being. The giratina in-turn loves its new mother as she treats it as her child.
Giratinas new forme would be Space. Giving curtain design changes to it's head crest, giving six clawed toes on each feet. 6 alien antennas on its head. (3 on each side.) and maybe a few other things. (Turning a Creep and intimidating monster into a Creepy and strange alien. is a bit of an odd but a cool idea.) Giratina typing would now be Dragon/Space or Dragon/Alien as it underwent some major changes. Its offenses are even weaker and it is slower. But both defenses are much stronger and it can use the Comic power, allowing it to raise both defenses.
Plus there would maybe be a few alien Giratinas that lived in the alien world where the legendary Space or Alien Pokemon lives.
It's a thought and I would so love to help Gamefreak make their Pokemon franchise even better. They just need some help.

It's just a stupid move on Game Freak's part, and even insulting.
I don't think you really read through the whole description, seeing as you completely missed some of my other suggestions that would have made a hell of a lot more sense then Fair being super effective against Dragon... which makes no logical sense! Like giving Ice a new resilience to Dragon, or making Steel super effective, that would at least make sense! It has always baffled me since Gen 1 why Poison was never super effective against Water, since pollution corrupts water, ect, ect, which would give Poison a boost without nerfing Water type all that much... and again, it would be less insulting then a stupid pixie being super effective against a Dragon!
Yes, Ice and Steel ARE the true counters, as are other Dragon types! Again, you didn't read the whole thing! No offensive qualities to the Steel Type? Who are you kidding? Did you not see my rundown of an Anti-Dragon Metagross set? Scizor can be a total monster as well, especially with the Swords Dance/Bullet Punch, hold item focus sash combo.
And again, I don't think you bothered to READ everything when I also mentioned that complaining people equiping their pokemon with moves to counter the opposition is an incredibly weak argument? It's not just the Dragon types that do it, ya know. Are you telling me you wont try to equip you're precious Fairy types with moves to counter their weak points then?
Not all changes are good ones. In fact, I'd say this is probably the worst change Pokemon's ever done. I find the Fairy type designs to be mostly insulting, lazy, insipid, or in the case of Marril and Mawile just slapped on for the sake of it. This one just seems like a slap in the face and a big “screw you” to the older generation of fans like myself. Hell, why don't we just throw in Dora the Explorer in there while we're at it? Who's gonna notice?
Anyway, I do test my skills, and whenever I was having trouble against a dragon trainer, I figured out ways around them, I didn't need this new Crutch Type to beat them, I figured things out with what I already had. Problem solving, something I intend to do about these puke-inducing Fairy types!
Look, this ain't Youtube, if you're looking for an argument, go there, please. I'm done.

My main problem with fairy type is the same one I have with ice type. I just don't like most of the Pokemon in them. I don't have anything against the type itself but I am not happy with most of the Fairys shown so far. I also have it burned into my head from the original Spyro games that fairys and dragons are freinds so it kinda pissed me off for a diffrent reason than they are small and pathetic like most people say.
Though there may be something youll like out of it. It's a rumor and mostly unconfirmed, but it has been mentioned that there will be a second eeveelution, and following the pattern, each pair of Eevees has one with a type advantage to the other. And what is the only type Fairys are known to have an advantage over?

I actually like a lot off ice types. Weavile is my favorite, but I'm also fond of Lapras, Walrein, Mamoswine, and Froslass. To be honest, I probably wouldn't be so hostile against Fairy types if they weren't super effective against Dragons! (granted, most of the Fairy designs are lame, pathetic, and even downright ugly! Except for Xerneas, he's safe from my anti-fairy wrath!) Even if it was just neutral, I wouldn't despise it so much! But, all we can do is figure out a way to make life a living hell for Fairy type users... with our dragons, preferably! On a side note... Spyro is awesome!
Oh? I'd love to see a Dragon type evolution of Eevee... something that could bring back the dignity and honor lost to the Eevee lineup when Sylveon was announced!

Lapras, Abomasnow, and Articuno are all fine but the rest are just meh at best. Mawile is a fairy type now appearently, and its mega form gives it huge power which will give it a 170 attack stat soooo....yeah, that will be a threat to dragons. At least it's pretty cool looking. I'm adjusting to fairy types a little better now that there are some cool ones like Gardevior, Mawile and Xerneas but the rest are just annoying.
Yeah, Spyro is the most nostalgic game I own, so hearing "Fairies are always on your side, Spyro" only to have another one of my favorite franchises going out of it's way to show fairies beating up dragons just makes my inner child cry. I have to jump through mental hoops to try and accept it. I still barely do.

Consider trying out a Weavile. Those things are wicked nasty! Hold item focus sash, move set Nightslash, Brickbreak, Ice Punch, and Swords Dance. That nasty little critter can wreck entire teams!
Really? Mawile... fairy type? *pounds head into desk* Urggg, does the slapped on Fairy type ever end? Just as long as they don't do it to Mew... please don't do it to Mew! pleaseeee. I'm not sure what to think of these "Mega" evolutions yet... sounds to me like they could break the game, unless you're only allowed one at a time or something.
I haven't played much Spyro, but he's a dragon, so I like him! Still, I feel you're pain, I really do.

I really should try one based off it's stats alone, but there is just something I don't like about it that makes me not want to. Guess it's that I always find a Pokemon I'd rather have whenever I do get one. Eh, maybe next time I capture one I'll train it.
Eh, I can kinda agree with ya on Gardevior being unnessecary, since it's already a great Pokemon and it doesn't really need a new type, but I like Mawile having it. I think she just pulls it off.
Think the Mega evolutions are a temporary thing. Something about it wearing off after battle. Hopefully it will be a held item that works like a berry. As soon as you call out the Pokemon, they use the Mega stone and are left withought an item to help it. That could be a way to balance it. I dont know, I hate the name, love the concept. Guess I just need to wait and see how it plays out. Please change Charizard and Gyarados from part Flying to part dragon, please, please, please!!! That would totally justify it for me.
Fairys help spyro out a lot in the first game, they are the checkpoints in all the original ones, keep you from falling to your death in one level, open new paths after saving them in another, and even giving you a temporary super flame power up. Because they always helped me, it's kind of burned into my head that they a freinds. Though I should stop using Spyro logic in Pokemon games.

No... I just have another reason to stomp every single Mawile I see now.
No, no, noooo! Do NOT turn Charizard and Gyarados into Dragon types! One, they'll be nerfed by Fairies too, second, that would ruin one of my favorite double/triple battle tactics, of which I use a Charizard and Gyarados on the team! I like the Flying type, it makes them immune to Ground type attacks! One team I've kept going since gen 3 was something I call Team Tremors: Everyone knows Earthquake, no one is effected by it. If they turn two of my favorites that just look like Dragons into Dragons, I'm gonna be pissed!

Personally I'm hoping clefairy isnt a fairy type. I would find it hilarious. It's sudowoodo all over again. I have used togekiss, it's a pretty cool Pokemon with a nice moveset and ability. It's adorable and dangerous. Hmmmm, Megatogekiss....hehe
Eh, sorry but I'm definatly hoping Charizard will have a mega form thats dragon type. Besides, mega form seems to be a item, so if you dont like the form you can just use a diffrent item to increase ground type attacks. I doubt every Pokemon requires it's mega form to be usuable. I mean some Pokemon are better to not evolve so you can use evolite on them. While it gains some power, it migth be better to leave them normal so you can equipt an item for your strategy.
I'm definatly giving it a Megastone however, you know, if it does become a dragon. It's what I've wanted since I evolved my first Charizard, only to find out that it was actually a flyign type...and couldn't fly...dang it gen 1. Also, Fire/Dragon is a much better type combo than Fire/Flying. Haha, suck it stealth rock.
As for Gyarados, eh, I just always thought it should be a dragon. I mean if they turn Ampharos part dragon in it's mega form, they can turn 2 dragon like Pokemon into that type.

I'm still not so sure about those Mega forms, still looks like something else to break the game if you ask me... and they should have left Mewtwo alone! Don't mess with Mewtwo!
Still, I like my Charizards and Gyaradoses immune to Grountypes, despite the x4 damage to rock or electric. Complete immunity to Ground!
