Awake? Awake at last?Or is it possible I still sleep.
Have I entered yet another dream?
If so then spare me.
The routine grows so weary.
The faces come as they always do,
Those three hypocrites who in turns strike me-
With first a hammer, next a blade, finally a metal glove.
A blinding flash, they disappear,
I stand on piles of ash.
I have a dream I'm buried in that ash.
I do not struggle, I do not move.
I try to talk but choke-
As it enters through my mouth, my throat, my lungs.
It BURNS in my nose, my ears, my eyes!
I dream that I am dying!
Then realize I already have.
Eight hands find and pull me free,
Each gripping a separate limb.
My seven brothers, my blood brothers.
Each and every stand before me!
I am filled with pride and honor!
Each and every smile at my face.
But there is another man, an eighth hand.
The hand of the friend.
The hand of the traitor.
Fear replaces pride,
as he pulls me into an embrace.
As he pulls away I ask him "why"
he merely smiles.
And slips the golden mask around my face.
But this is no dream.
My fingers feel and touch,
My breath steady and controlled.
AWAKE! Awake at last!
Once more risen from the ashes,
risen, risen,
I WILL rise once more to my former glory!
CALL me Sleeper!
CALL me Dreamer!
Call me ash born!
And a god! For I am in fact-
Different from the three who slew me.
BEHOLD, the true god!
And the one god!
Come my sleepers!
All my dreamers!
Praise my holy name! Say it! Dagoth Ur!
.... But....
Am I mad?
I must be to be what I am,
To feel as I feel.
Even now in daylight I still dream.
Yet what I dream I now dreamt,
What I dreamt I now am.
Dreams of deformities and of storms,
Dreams of liberation of my kind.
I dream of justice.
I dream of vengeance.
And of holding my tools once more.
I WILL hold my tools once more!
.... But....
I am mad.
Truly I must be to dream these thoughts.
The heart reminds me,
The golden veil which I now wear-
Hides what I once was, alive.
I dream that I am alive,
Knowing it could be but a dream.

I really appreciate the things you said about my writing. I rarely share my work on something so global as DA, even more rarely have it recognized. I wanted to say that I'm a big fan of your art, I find it most intriguing, fascinating, or was it puzzling? No, definitely beautiful. I recently showed my mother and we can both agree that we sorta just sat and stared.
