Description
At long last I can show you art, because after I came back from Japan I've not drawn anything until now! About tree weeks without art made me kind of art sick. And to heal I needed to draw something! XDAnd because of Twilight Princess HD hype!!!
... you can already guess the rest. I know it's a second remake of the old game and contains almost nothing new, but I have the Wii version and the graphics, graphics and...graphics! The game has never looked better to me!
And also to celebrate Zelda series 30th anniversary!
First time I mixed Copics and watercolours, not sure should I call this a painting or a drawing.
The sketch:

Work in progress:

Time: About 8 hours.
Used: Pencils (for sketcing), Japanese brush ink pen, Copic and Ciao Markers, Russian watercolours and a little bit of masking ink, because I needed white.
And of course Zelda soundracks (that's why the headphones in the Wip pic) mostly from Twilight Princess.

Holy crap, this is just too amazing for words, but I have to say them anyways. First off, this is a seriously time-taking watercolor artwork based off from a scene in one of my favorite Zelda games. It's good that you take a seriously long time to paint this to capture most of the scenery and details. Honestly, it's actually pretty unique that you made it in a style you're used to instead of actually looking like the thing, which is good since you know.... Everyone has their own style and what-not. It's also cool how you blended the colors thoroughly to make a specific idea of shading and semi-realism. One example to display what I'm referring towards to is the bars and the wall of the cell that the Legendary Hero was kept in, the fur of Wolf Link, and Midna's body. It's actually pretty talented to have the colors blend in well with a technique you went around so that it's just not looking very abstract-like. Now, according to this scene, I actually like the captured emotion of Midna since it was the first time seeing this feral beast. It's like you actually made her facial expression pop out more, including Wolf Link. You truly capture their facial expressions well, even if it was facing towards a different angle than what you would actually see as if you're standing in front of them. To be honest, I'm trying to do watercolor paintings for the first time, and seeing this made me wonder, 'Whoa... I wanna do something so skilled like that....' You, my friend.... Sheesh, that's so damn amazing....

Thank you! I love Midna, also because she's so expressive:
www.zeldadungeon.net/Zelda11/W… , www.google.com/search?client=f… :, gotta love that grin, haha. She's also important because I think Mida has 'formed' from her, a big part, especially the mischievousness no wonder I saw her as an enemy in my early stage plot.
But I guess wolves can show expression too, the fangs help a lot with that. :'D

yep, she is definitely cool! and I think every writer has an already existing character from which inspiration was drawn. I think it's great to know where yours came from - and what the differences are, of course. Carbon copies are a little less interesting :')

Indeed, though funny thing is at her early stage I even called her 'Minda' but I mixed those two names even myself so I dropped the 'n'. XD And Mida does sound a better name, there was a point I tried to change that but it was already stained on her and step by step I grew used to it.
The same character can be a combination of many others' likeable traits too. I notice that more often I want some of mine to reflect that of one in another story, sometimes even IRL people. Though how my mind pulled Naí out of my friend's toilet ceramic tile is still a wonder. It didn't even depict a person or creature. XD

Yes, I'm still suprised how much it resembles the game. Well, that was one of my favourite parts so perhaps that explains it... I fell in love with that Link's annoyed face.

Thank you! I feared my ink pen wouldn't be water proof but luckily it turned out it was. Otherwise I had been in a big trouble. Though I should have realized it earlier, because I always manage to smudge my fingers with it and you can't wash it away. XD

Thank you! ^^ Haha, that's nice to hear! And just do it if you feel like, watercolours are actually very nice tools to play around with!
It took me years to find a proper inspiration to them again. Before I was always frustrated to how the works turned out (and I hand just about the cheapest supplies) but then I fell in love with them in digital art while using ArtRage 4. It's a program dedicated to realistic-looking painting. And there I found a new inspiration to try watercolours again in traditional. I'm glad I did.
I'm afraid I can't help you but to show you this:
There reads something I can't read Russian unfortunately. We bought them at Diverse, an art supply shop: diverse.fi/en/watercolor/white…
Just as I looked the shop sells two kinds of watercolours: White Nights and Rublev. As I searched the pictures in Google it seems this one would be Rublev. But it's just a guess. But both brands are voted as one of the bests anyway. They even contain natural pigments and are therefore very good. ^^
Those are my mother's but I'm hoping to get mine soon! To be honest I've never seen better watercolours. :'D
Good luck getting ones and for your Zelda art!

You're welcome, and I am so going to play with them after I finish my final exams next Wednesday!
I have the cheapest watercolors too, but I gotta deal with it til I get more money to buy new ones~ Ohh, artrage, I got that one too, just the older version~ c: I'm glad you did too!
Ahh darn, the website is so confusing and I can't read Russian either! :c I'll try to google it!
Gahhh, I gotta search for them for reals, my watercolors are those that you use in elementary school....xD
I bet they're amazing, my gods~~ c:
Good luck to you too, for everything!

Waah, thank you! Hehe one day I'll become a master at drawing it for sure. XD It felt a little weird to draw the original version of Midna and Link as I've always drawn the Wii version's but I'm getting used to this "original" version.
Finally another Zelda piece for my wall. I'm dreaming of covering it with Zelda pieces and perhaps some OC drawings as well. ^^

Original version? Hm? I know there's a GameCube, Wii and now WiiU version, but are there differences in their design?
Ohh, that would become a really awesome wall over time. c:

Not anything else but the Wii version is mirrored one of the original and therefore also from the Wii U version. So it's a bit hard at times to try to remember which side Midna had her fang or the eye visible.
Certainly. Gotta draw more!
