Description
Ugg, I always seem to drink caffeinated drinks at the most inopportune times. >.>This is just a little sketch I did because I cannot seem to get sleepy. No attempt at realism or anything, so my anatomy and whatnot is shot.
So, these are all my favorite characters from CATS, all lined up as if they were about to get their photo taken. Yeah, that turned out well.
Left to right:
Alonzo, Munkustrap, Demeter, Tugger, Tumblebrutus, Mistoffelees, and Pouncival.
Originally I was going to do Asparagus Jr. instead of Pounce, but I just couldn't seem to draw him for some reason.
And so now here's a gush about why I like each one. XD Hopefully by the time this is over I'll be sleepy.
Alonzo: "Hello, ladies." He's the only one actually smiling for the camera, haha!
Honestly I don't remember when I started to like Alonzo. One day I was just like "I like his back." And so I started to pay attention to him, which made me come to love his character.
Munkustrap: "Ahem... unhand my queen, kthx"
Now, those that know me know I'm in love with this guy. Cat. Thing. Whatever. Would you believe me if I said he wasn't my first fav? Yup. But then again, I think that's because I first saw a HS production...and he was a she. But I did notice s/he was important!
And then when I watched the video... I will admit it took a few viewings, but I fell honestly and irreversibly in love with Michael Gruber. I could rant on about him a lot more than I should be able. Did you know he has two dachshunds? And doesn't like snow that much? And - /stops rant before it takes over the already lengthy description/
Demeter: "DOES. NOT. WANT." (pfft, poor thing has Tugg's mane in her face.)
By her self, I can't honestly say how much I like Deme. I'm starting to delve into theories about her past, which is making me like her, but the reason she makes my tops list is because I ADORE Demunk. It's a cliche fearfulXprotective pairing, but I love it.
Tugger: "Hiya, toots." Always the flirt... Nevermind she hates him, or the death glare from the brother.
Yes. I will admit it. I will admit that he was my first favorite Jellicle. But come on! In the HS production, he was the only male there, practically. Or at least the only one that was noticed, for a first-time viewer with no knowledge of the chorus cats. (and even then I was digging Mungo and Rump, and Bomba more or about the same. I liked their songs.
And then the video... at first stunned by the hip-shaking-and-whatnot, I soon got used to it. And decided it quite, um, attractive.
And what can I say, for some reason I find flirts funny.
Tumblebrutus: "...my warmer needs fixing..."
Ah, little Tumble.
I've always liked him, but it wasn't until I saw Cats live that I REALLY liked him. He ran by our seats the most, and interacted with the girls in front of us. (Poor rejected me.
Mistoffelees: "..just take the stupid picture..."
Poor guy looks like he's about to fry something.
Pouncival: *snicker*
Now, I must say he's not my TOPS tops. He's about the same as Asparagus Jr(who's expressions/personality cracks me up) and I was planning to draw Asp because the poor guy gets no love. Anyway, Pouncival's great too.
So. That's that. Quite a rant, it was, for a 30 minute doodle thing.

Thank you!
They vie for the #2 slot in my top-faves list, but Munkustrap wins for me.

Yeah. XD Munkustrap is pretty awesome. I started freaking out like you wouldn't believe when I found out John Partrge and Jacob Brent were gay. D:

The RTT I saw on the tour was quite good too, though. Better than a lot of 'em you find on youtube.

It does tour the states every year, actually. I thought I was doomed because I missed it on broadway, but nope! They're going to put up the dates for this season soon. [link]
I absolutely loved it.

If you're on facebook, they have a page. They seem to be hinting that they'll release the dates soon... search "cats on tour."

...guy. Cat. THING. what are you, Pippin from LOTR? i loloed on that. and don't feel sorry for falling for Alonzo's back before you fell for the rest of him. I did the same thing. I also have a rather unhealthy obsession with his chin.
dear...watch yourself, and never see Gruber live. yes, he's lovely, and one of the few straight males on that darn cast, but you're crossing into Etcy fangirlishness there...which tends to freak the boys out... and don't worry about Mmisto being short. he's always short. it's his curse.

I had no idea I made a LOTR reference until you pointed it out. I fail as a nerd... here comes a re-read/movie marathon!
Alonzo's chin IS pretty nice, isn't it?
Aw, but I want to see him live! Eh, I'd be to shy to do anything but stand there with wide, star-stricken eyes, anyway. If I was being bold, maybe I'd ask quietly for him to sign my playbill. I'll have you know that I have refrained from friending him on facebook! I'm very proud of that. (Though... it is a testament that I found him on facebook anyway. I need a life, I do.)
Well, I can now tell my brother that he shares a curse with a magical cat. I'm sure he'll just LOVE that.

You cannot FAIL as a nerd, persay, only grow in your nerditude. also, first movie "You need people of intellegence on this sort of mission. Quest. THENG." and yes, i spelled that wrong on purpose. i have a slight love affair with Pippin's accent...and his chin(realizes just now i have a weird thing for nice chins...)
Hey, don't feel bad, i stalked Jacob until i found out he was gay, which does me literaly no good. Pity.
Hey, i share the curse too. i quite growing at 13. im 5'1". it sux.

Yes, that's the quote... I knew I recognized it, but couldn't place it. And don't worry - I love Pippin's accent too, and I like his chin as well. XD Though I've got more of a thing for noses.
Pfft, you might as well stalk him. Gruber's as old as my parents by now, so that does me no good either. XD (Not to mention he might be gay, for all I know. I can't find any official word on that.)
I quit at that age too...about the time my brother went WOOSH! Well, a relative woosh. XD He likes to flaunt that he's taller than me now, because I was taller than him for the majority of our lives. (We're twins.)

DOn't feel bad. i like Alonzo's nose as well. Check out Tony Timberlake(younger Gus)tho. you can't tell me that chin of his isn't amazing.
He's an actor, age means nothing to them. NAd actually, i think he's one of the few straight men on the cast.
Boys always tend to do that at the worst time. just point out that you grew up before he did, and his brains still trying to catch up, if he bugs ya. Also...i wish i had a twin. seems like a handy thing to have

TheSweetClover In reply to crazyashley [2011-08-04 05:09:43 +0000 UTC]
It really is. I've been a quiet fangirl of his for a while.
You know, actually, I don't think there's a single guy in there that's not good looking. (well, apart from Old Gus and Old D, perhaps.) I think it has something to do with the makeup and spandex...
True, true...
Haha! Thanks, I shall remember that comeback. And a twin really is handy to have - though you develop the habit of referring to yourself in plural. "We're going to do this, We're going to do that."

crazyashley In reply to TheSweetClover [2011-08-05 01:57:36 +0000 UTC]
well, Sir John Mills wasnt too bad looking in his day...before he got all old and Gus-ified. and Mister Page isn't bad for an older guy. no attraction there, but he's not Ugly, persay.
and yes, i think it does too. Have you seen some of them without the makeup? sometimes, tha Catface makes them cuter.
I do that anyway, just to weird people out. now all i need is the twin to go with it!

That's true, that's true...
Yeah, I have. It does - Skimble's actor, if I've found a picture of the same guy, actually looks downright creepy without Catface.
Haha, yeah! Actually - you can go ahead and have my brother. I was thinking about trading him in for a nicer version, anyway.

Yeah, they'd prolly think i was a pedo or something...though i only look about sixteen if i try...

This picture/dialogue sayings are a WIN!
If I could do Cats for my high school, I think I would explode, (Not that small, internal burst of excitement, but a literal KIND OF EXPLOSION!!!)
Deme's one of my favorite characters too, as is Tumble and Tugger *melts* I keep telling him I don't like him at all, but then I watch the movie and hear his song and... *melts*
And You did well at drawing the figures and such! They make my day.
Great job!!!!!!!!

TheSweetClover In reply to Dawning-Rose [2011-07-26 01:24:29 +0000 UTC]
Haha, thanks!
If they do it again, I'll explode literally, too, now that I know how epic it is.
I know, that's what I told myself at first, with Tugger. But then I just realized I was trying in vain, (not to mention swooning when he sang in Old D) so I finally went ahead and called him one of my faves. It's still odd when people ask who I like:
"Munkustrap! Oh... and the, um, sexy one with the hips. I'm going to go die from shame now..."
Really? Thanks!

Well, it wasn't my HS, per say, as I'm homeschooled. XD But, it'd be the highschool I'd go to, if I wasn't, and It's the one my friend and my brother go to.
If I remember right, they were the first HS in our state to attempt Cats, or the first in the county or something... They have to get the rights or whatever from RUG, don't they? /knows nothing about this sort of thing/

What were the costumes like? it sounds really awesome!!

TheSweetClover In reply to StokeTheRage [2011-07-24 07:39:39 +0000 UTC]
The costumes were quite good, actually. The unitards were nicely painted instead of that thing you see sometimes with the stripes being fabric..blah. Anyway, the wigs weren't styled that great though. At least, not that I thought. They were too boofy, in my opinion, with the ears not being real noticeable.
The singing and dancing was good as well! I don't remember cringing at anything. They had some mic issues, though. Sometimes the orchestra'd overwhelm them a bit, or someone's mic wouldn't come on.
Apparently they did film it and have dvds for sale, but I haven't found anything on youtube yet, and I can't seem to convince my brother to talk to the theatre director about buying one. >.>

Well, trying to think back on it, the dancing WAS simplified as heck, I think. (So hard to remember now that I've watched the dvd a million times, not to mention I knew no different then.) I bet your dance school production was epic.
Because it's not cool to go talk to the head of the drama department.
