Other headcanons/opinions:A ton of people say that Knuckles was nothing special, just a gullible villian who didn't have a chance against Eggman and was never meant to be anything special. I couldn't disagree more. From the box art to this masterpiece of an idea, to his edgy theme song every time he appears in Sonic 3. The rad red could literally knock Sonic out of his Super form and had an epic final battle with Mecha Sonic in his own play through.
Knuckles was meant to be a lot more than he has evolved into. He was important in both SA1, and 2. Had a 32x game dedicated to him as the main character, and was one of the main heroes in Sonic Chronicles. He's the gaurdian of the Master Emerald, and one of the few characters who has achieved a super transformation. Don't tell me that Knuckles isn't cool man, because he was always meant to be! You don't knock the chaos emeralds straight out of Super Sonic and make him fall for several traps without falling into that category! :glasses:

If anything, Shadow nowadays is just there to be cool and "edgey" and he's more edgey than Knuckles or any other Sonic character I can think of

It's like five years made all the difference.
People seem hard pressed to forget Shadow and his awesomeness- although even that has been waning away.
Knuckles though? The moment you bring up Sonic 3, all people can remember is how he was tricked, while images of Sonic Boom flash through their head. Shadow the hedgehog is one of my favorite Sonic characters. Some days I like him the most of all, however, he had a predecessor, and people talk about this said predecessor as if they had never seen a Sega Genesis console in their life- which could be true for most of them. Too bad most of them will only hear the butchered plot Synopsis of Sonic 3 without ever experiencing the amazing game with lock on technology by themselves.

The most epic emblem of all the Sonic franchise history is that logo from Sonic & Knuckles. I think Sega should make a 3D version of Sonic & Knuckles, this time with true Super and Hyper forms for both Sonic and Knuckles and not only for Sonic alone, also with Knuckles able to go to Death Egg and Doomsday zones, and maybe Tails too.
