Whiff the Rubbish Collecting Engine.Whiff was made entirely from plasticard, i built him from scale drawings and modelled him in OO scale, the face is from the wooden Whiff model and uses components from a Mainline J72 0-6-0, the model runs well and has added weight inside the body, so he holds well on the tracks.

You know what'd be cool, if Whiff used to have his own inspection carriage before he came to sodor. I mean Aerolite did, and now the coach is on the KWVR and appeared in the film "The Railway Children", I saw the two reunited at Railfest this year.

That's a very interesting model, Dan, and a very appropriate re-use of a J72, considering that Aerolite (and Whiff, in principle) worked on the same railway.

No, he's a more recent character created by HiT Entertainment, based on the NRM's No.66 "Aerolite." The modellers and writers of the modern Thomas series are complete idiots with a rubbish, no pun intended, sense of humour, thinking it would be funny to depict a famous saloon engine with a crummy job: hauling and shunting trucks of GARBAGE.
Stay away from the modern Thomas series, it's not suitable for kids because it is so poorly written. The lack of realism's deplorable as is the lack of safety, and kids are now becoming confused by the plots.
By the time the latter half of Season 16 rolls around the writing will be improving again.
