Description
The flag of the nation of the Seta'Lo, one of the stronger and larger Coastal Kings states of northwest Masset, in contact with kithan traders and ships since long.Centered around the Lekola river and bay, the small tribal state was changed irremediably as kithans ships, explorers and traders, landed in.. New tools, new techs, new ideas slowly seeped in, often violently along war where kithans had an hand in it, directly or not. A tributaire kingdom arised, sworn vasality to the Great Kithan Kings distantly across the sea, and gained help from traders. Towns arised of wood (and stones), 'longhouses' hermitages were erected, forges built.
The Seta'Lo are well off since a good time, as the rivers and bay and coasts are rich of fish and seafoods and sea animals, from salmons to shrimps, to the famous 'candlefish' who is a source of oils and 'grease trails' trading with inner peoples off coasts. Much are smoked and kept in oil and such, along berries and some other woodland products like mushrooms. Logging and woodcarving and bark weaving are other traditional industries of the Seta'Lo - famous 'totem poles' statues are still made, mixing native style and kithan traditions.
Of not is also Duwagit Island, an 'holy' territory, taboo - this island was dedicated to budding monastism and hermitdom as kithan religion mixed with massetan ideas, and this territory is famous for their hats and cedark bark cloaks monks, meditating and living simply of the land, and working daily on body and soul in the 'Puma and Eagle Art' martial art (a syncretism of native fighting ways and kithan arts as well).
The land is not totally peacefull, as inner nomadic tribes often clash at the mountanous frontiers's weaker parts. , and the southern and northern kingdoms and states (and coalitions) often clash along as well - notably the more northern and bellicous Nisga'Shian of the Sakeena Valley originally and the often-piratery-leaning islanders Kaiga-Gwaii.
