S'alright. I never get to play my IG.
I thought they were my type, until I found out about Tau.
They just too expensive and too few players in my place. The hobby club I went before, everyone keeps playing the ever expensive MTG and Vanguard.
Now the place is shut down and I have nowhere else to go...

After witnessing so many of these shops come and go (So far the count is 5) I finally conclude that you can't count on that trade as the primary income for the shop. It has to be coupled with something else, like mangas, animes, action figures or video games.

yeah i agree. the shops over here is the same. tabletop wargames cant sustain a bussiness. their main income is actually card games. now those sells like crazy. the main bread and butter. and for that reasons only less than half of the store table is for wargames.

As good as TCGs sells, it still can't support, unless you open in a dark and cheap corner (yeah, as if the nerdiness of the game isn't bad enough).
If you plan on having such shops in a high profile area like Orchard Road, you better prepare...

how they sustain i have no idea.

I guess their bread and butter would be the comics they sell.
Other than that I learned that they are very active in organizing the weekly tournaments so yeah they profit like that.

I had a similar idea for drones
Infantry only have access to Gun/Marker/Shield drones (or Missile drones, if equipped with a Broadside battlesuit)
Jet-pack Infantry would have access to all of them (including missile drones)
As well as the options you said above:
Plasma, Flamer (Pyrodrone!), Fusion Drones (may be beyond OP), Burst cannon (the least OP of all these ideas)
And maybe a new rule:
Drones have the toughness of their bearer unless their own toughness is better.

omni drones. that can equip any small to medium tau arsenal.
the drones used to follow the toughness of its user back in 5th ed.
but they changed that now there are T5 suits out. hahah too broken.

it could make sense in the sense of it being made to take a shot for the commander
they don't change toughness, it's just that they have the same armour and durability as the one they're taken for
(crisis commanders that die, leaving their drones, the drones count as a unit on their own, so if another commander joins them, they count as a unit, rather than other drones

You can get Dual-Burst Cannon Gun Drones called "Heavy" drones from Forge World, if that helps. But I agree, more flexiblity with drones would be a lot of fun. One of my non-combatant Tau characters has a "personal defense" drone with twin-linked Smart Missiles
Adding Missile Drones and Shielded Missile Drones was nice, but making them Riptide and Broadside exlusive not so much...
