Funny thing, I was actually inspired by a movie called The Fourth Kind which I maintain as being an extremely scary horror about aliens watching and abducting humans in Alaska with their signature in this movie being they take the form of Barn owls to spy on the human subjects.

Who I might add are sometimes called ghost owls cause of their white faces and entirely black eyes, so this is a smart move.

The most chilling things are in the movie's name which sets up an escalation:

When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind.

The immense dread of that tagline is palpable. And the idea these creatures so swiftly, soundlessly break into people's homes unseen in the dead of night and manipulate your memories like losing memory of a dream, or cause near fatal injuries to cover up their tracks. And also this mother's daughter just taken away by them.

Its an extremely freaky concept. More akin to evil spirits or ghosts or insane mind fucks in terms of modus operandi, in the psychotic characterization of its alien antagonists, but really it is just as believable that an intelligent race of beings might be that sick or depraved to get what they want and keep secrets.

I can't even recollect and write this down without a fear of things outside the window, in the house or even behind me.

SO as always I deal with that long crippling fear by drawing up a sexy owl lady inspired by how uncanny valley owl faces are to human perception.
