Personally, I'm not a huge fan of plasma guns on Space Marines. I prefer meltaguns in almost every case. But you're making a pretty strong argument for the plasma.
Also, it has been said before, but I'll say it too: Great paint work. How do you get the apothecary's armor so clean? Β

Plasma is dangerous but this squad (with the captain) firing 10 plasma shot, that hurts 
I love melta too, that brutal ! I have 2 squad of sternguard veteran with melta and combi meltaΒ
For the apothecary, i work on a white base, just adding details and shades
