I like the fur texture here, but I wouldn't say it's realism. I think it's more like lineless art.
The eyes, having just the right amount of blue and yellow, contrast to the reddish fur and bring attention to the face and body. The background looks realistically textured, and look sorta like a real forest. I'd keep up the style you have here!
