Yes Rainbow Dash is awesome. She maybe the fastest pony in all of Equestria....But she's not the fastest thing alive..XD
I'm still a Sonic fan by heart.. sorry Dash, somethings are just faster XD (says the guy who is making Sonic win in the pic....and will no doubt get a whole bunch of bashing from Rainbow dash fans XD)

They're both equal in my book. Because:
1.They both were in a show that many males like (Sonic SatAM and MLPFiM)
2.They both move at the speed of light(I've heard people say Sonic moves at the speed of light, so why not)
3.Their names both have something to do with speed
4.They're both blue, and by speed logic they have to be red(The Flash), brown(Speedy Gonzalez), or blue(Sonic, Rainbow Dash, Road Runner) to move really fast.
Although....If Sonic collected the Chaos Emeralds or the Super Emeralds, he'd beat her in an instant, while Rainbow Dash has nothing to help. So Sonic automatically wins. END OF STORY.

Actually, Dash would be faster. She can travel at the speed of a rainbow, and since rainbows are made of light and water, a rainbow would be more or less the speed of light. Sonic travels at the speed of sound. I like both characters, but this is a fact, not an opinion.

Plus...if you see how long it took her to make the Rainbow around Canterlot, the 'speed of the rainbow' is a snails pace compared to the speed of light.

truth, according to sonic colors ds, sonic can travel over lightspeed, so it would be impossible to beat sonic in a race, i dont think theres a video showing the cutscene, but i do know what cutscene it is and how to unlock it

actually it was never said that she was going faster then the speed of light. that and the fact sonic also has a trail of light follow him if he goes fast enough. plus she is only breaking the sound berrier that doesn't mean she was going the speed of light.

Sonic has been in too many crappy video games with terrible writing for me to care much about him anymore.
At least Rainbow Dash has good comebacks, awesome writing a good storyline behind her that makes me want to keep watching a show meant for toddlers rather than a stupidly put together game that makes me want to cringe every time a character talks.
Can Sonic do a Sonic Boom in midair? I think not! Needs "good ol' terra firma".
Note* Been a obsessed fan of Sonic since I was tiny and I have by watching FiM completely discarded him for Rainbow Dash! Nya!

1. yes she can run but she can't do a sonic rainboom out of the air. that and she has to take more time to accelerate to do a sonic rainboom. sonic can can go to a sonic boom with ease.
2. sonic colors wasn't that bad.
3. yes, because good voice acting and comebacks are what completly decide a race *hint: sarcasm*.

Does it really matter, I mean both are AWESOME!!!!! beyond comparison ( I'm a dedicated fan of both and find this rivalry to have no answer)
RD is fast and awesome, so is Sonic...
Both won on Death Battle, Both can run faster than the speed of sound, and both have super amazing moves.
Whether one is faster than the other really has no importance, I understand as a Brony myself that RD's speed is one of the highest in fictional characters ever and the desire to argue about speed with a character who is called the fastest thing alive is too good to pass up. However, its a waste of an argument, in which we argue that our amazing RD is better than another fast animal. Sonic has done amazing things too, such as defeated Mario in twenty year long rivalry ( look at death battle on screwattack.com), or defeated millions of robots.
