Tail mounted engine slightly reduce wave drag (into low-wing configuration, such as Comac ARJ-21 - engine caused some pressure rise in front of). I not sure about this phenomena into high-wing case.

Placing the engines in the rear of the fuselage - a big mistake.
At high angles of attack in the engine intake falls turbulent flow. And the engine is strongly shift the center of gravity back.
