Description KOS-MOS worn by and made my me and

Photo by Ollie. (I don't know if he's got a DA account or not!)

I just wanted to showcase this part, since it's now okay for me to admit that I had a HUGE hand in making this.

The dress is made out of upholstery vinyl. The purple is a satin fabric. (You can't really tell, but I made textured ribs in the purple by sewing on tubes of paper underneath pockets of purple satin. Great little detail if any of you saw this costume up close and personal.) The spine is made out of pink insulation foam, sanded into shape, and spray-painted gold.

This costume took about 3 months to make, but we definitely enjoyed the end result, even if it's been unofficially retired.

Thank you! It seems every costume I make is as detailed as possible. That's why and I work so well. We're perfectionists!

Next costumes on our list are the armors from Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep.

I look forward to making it. It'll be my first time making boots! Also, making visors will be an interesting process.

Yeah, the visor. Trying to help a friend figure out their own "how to make a visor" issues. XD

There are sheets of acrylic at Home Depot that you can get. Heated to a certain temperature, they're very malleable. That's how we're doing it, anyway.

Thanks, I had thought about that, but wasn't sure how malleable it be. Now I know (And knowing is half the battle) XD

You never know unless you try. We bought a small sheet of it and experimented.

Awesome, we were thinking a clear resin for a bit, but was uncertain about the clearity. Vacuum forming was suggested also suggested but...yeah, need to make a vacuum forming machine (Don't have space for that).

Again, thanks. Always apperiated of any help i can get, and love learning new things. XD

My pleasure. I want to learn vacuum forming like you wouldn't believe. I've seen tutorials for homemade versions.

This stuff you could probably heat in the oven and then mold it around something while it's still hot. We had a heat gun, and it worked perfectly. Word of advice, though, DON'T use foam as a mold. It will melt.

Yeah, I was checking out tutorials on how to make my own. One guy, Volpin, showed his that he made for around $100. If had the space I'd definately go for it.

I plan on getting a heat gun. Heh, I did have the foam idea then relized that they be a mess. course learned that when tried hot glueing Insulation foam...and having it melt on me. >.< Lesson learned.
