microchipping pet dogs was recently made compulsory recently in England and maybe that was just to get people used to microchipping before the big human microchipping push.

It really happened, sadly.
They can't just let you collar them instead?
Microchipping is awful, too much surveillance

yes way too much. every street corner in city centres theres a camera, and theyr popping up in residential areas too, big brothers here and hes a twot.
no collar not enough these days unfortunately.

You'd think all those drones and spy satellites would be enough for them!
It's been getting steadily worse since the post WW2 military buildup and
the idiotic red scare that kept it going.
