"So what kind of stone is this anyway?" Flannery asks, rubbing the Mega Stone fastened around her neck.

"Oh, I'm not sure. I just found it on the beach one day," you say, feigning ignorance.

"Whatever it is, it makes me feel... I don't know. More powerful?" she blushes at the silly idea.

You're sitting on a bench next to Flannery, just having completed another practice battle.

"Have you been... holding back?" she asks.

She breathes deeply after the intense training, but she is not short of breath. Her heaving body shifts the bench beneath your butt, and you feel like you are being drawn closer to her. Or is she growing before your very eyes?

"What makes you say that?"

You have been holding back, but now you fear that even if your team were to go all out you wouldn't be able to beat her anymore.

"Well, either way..." she laughs, "you're certainly improving."

As you thank her and get up to leave, you realize that you stand at eye level with her while she's seated on the bench.

Truth be told, she hasn't grown terribly much lately. She has grown a full inch since you gave her the Mega Stone two days ago, but before that she was growing much more rapidly. You begin to wonder if the Mega Stone has any latent effects after all -- and even worse, if training with you is helping Flannery grow at all.

Later that night, you knock on her door.

"Hello?" she opens the door, filling the doorway completely.

"I have something for you!" you smile and hand her a box.

"M-more gifts?" she stammers, opening the box, hoping for an inexpensive gesture.

It's an EXP share. She vaguely recognizes it as training equipment.

"Oh!" she chirps. "Umm, are you sure you don't need this?" she asks, looking down at you.

"No, no. You're the gym leader, Flannery. No offensive, but you've still got a lot to learn. Just wear this to bed and it will help you remember all you've learned throughout the day."

"Oh! H-how thoughtful!" she says.

Flannery turns around. She takes a moment then swallows her pride and slips the strange headgear on. She can't refuse any advantage she can get. She is a young woman driven by a need to impress her family and fill the shoes of her ancestors. You turn around and leave before she realizes she left the door open.

"Alright Blastoise, let's train," you whisper to your Pokeball as you stow off into the night, looking for opponents.

The next morning you are woken by a CRASH. You race eagerly to Flannery's room. Her door is already open, perhaps still since last night.

"Mmmugh, c'mon..."

You see Flannery struggling to clothe her massive body. In the corner, her bed frame lies shattered in a heap.

"Uhh, hi..."
