August/ Agosto / August / AugusteEighth of the twelve original illustrations for my 2009 calendar.
Took the idea from ^Helewidis who won the People's Choice Award in my calendar contest with her entry about Portugal.
Ok maybe this doesn't have much to do with Portugal
but since her deviation mentioned something about a legend of a man in the seas, looking for new lands... ya know, I had to include a pirateish girl XDThe apple is because from now on I'll always relate Hele with an apple XD

green and red are our colours, the relationship with the sea is very important for us, even today, so a pirate symbolizing that, and also the spirit of adventure and the ": P" is also relevant, both to a pirate's attitude and also to ours in the past (I could go for hours about why, so note me if you're curious)...

I was going to correct you about "August", but I forgot that Portuguese is different from Spanish. (The irony is that we just did a presentation on Brazil earlier.
