Description I did this for a Christmas card a few years ago. The body is done in graphite while the wing was done using Sumi-e ink (Japanese ink painting) and the red halo was added later using Adobe Illustrator.

I did some work studying and practicing using Sumi-e techniques in high school so it was nice experimenting a bit more. I wanted to do wings that were a bit less defined as feathers and were more about shading.

I really should start up with the ink work again...wanders off...

I like the shading and detail in the wings, the halo is kinda eh, not sure about that, but nice work

The wings are beautiful How is working with Sumi-e ink? I've heard of it before and it sounds interesting!

I(t takes practice, but it's very calming. The hardest part is getting the right balance of shading.

Brilliant work again! and yes you should do more ink work it worked really well in this and his skin shading is wow factor plus
