Description
Um, well basically I decided to practice a little. This took about 45 mins. No real reference except my hands, feet, and reflection on the computer screen. Yeah, it sucks, but PLEASE give me advice and feedback. I REALLY want to get better. And everyone keeps saying I need to practice. So please, any comments, feedback, or advice, feel free to leave it.
Art belongs to me.(obviously who else would draw this crappy)
NOTICE I DREW NO NOSES. BECAUSE THEY ARE SO FUCKING UGLY AND ANNOYING.

Like so many other people said: Practice, practice, practice. It's really the only way. Practice and observation. No magic, just practice.

I've been trying...xD SO HARD....OH GOD.
I really like your style though~ I might start looking more at it for guidance, because they styles I've been practicing aren't the direction I want to go, but your art is more of the type of style I want to get to. Of course I'll be looking at tons of artists on here for guidance. xD Not necessarily bugging them for help (I find that rude) but observing their styles and such.

This may sound a little discouraging, but it's taken me years to reach the level I'm at now, you should see my old drawings, haha - badly proportioned, horrible anatomy, etc.
Aww, dang, I'm blushing now!~ ;//u//; Thank you so much! I'll try to update my gallery a little more often, haha.
Observation is a great way of learning! I observe all the time, like, if I'm at the time practising noses, I'll look at different peoples noses and such... Sometimes I feel like a creeper, when staring at complete strangers LOL. Also, when drawing, you should try and vary faces and such, as much as possible, even drawing people many wouldn't consider attractive is a great way of learning, since it kinda... gives the drawing character... or something. :-D Variation is great, since similar features can make it hard to tell characters apart.
But seriously, just practice, don't expect too much in the start, don't compare yourself to other artists, but instead think that they've been at your level too, and have been through the same process - trial and error, and all that stuff, don't think negatively (I know it can be hard, but you can force yourself not to think negative).
Also, I've found, that when I try to draw a big, complicated, something-something, I often end up discarding it, and instead just doodle on a paper, and that's how I improve - doodling. I've filled papers upon papers with eye-study sketches, nose-study sketches, mouths, hands, and all that crap, sometimes practising one thing at a time helps, instead of using hours on one drawing.
And... that's all I can think of for now. :-D I hope this helps a bit, haha.
Oh, and improvement meme's are great to look at, if you feel you're getting nowhere. Seeing how other artists improve is a great inspiration... well, for me it is.

[link] is a good hands/foot thing.
okay this person here who's lip tut I am linking you to: [link] has some of the best tutorials on dA that I have seen. I like her stuff, and need to make use of it. Or his, I never looked.
Anyway, don't worry about how long this person has been doing art, or if he/she is in art college whatever.
Just look at the shape and look at some of the tips given for making lips the right shape. I know technically here those are Jensen Ackles' but a lot of the stuff mentioned applies to lips of all kinds, male, female, and even on some level if you're into manga, some of the guidelines they use to create the shapes.
I HIGHLY recommend browsing this person's other tutorials and maybe trying some of the things. I know this is for portraiture specifically, and not maybe what you want to be doing, but all the same it's got a lot of technical demonstration and it's a rather lovely set of tuts. Hope it helped.

*cough* Thank you for eyeraping me with your massive paragraphs.
ALL joking aside though, thank you. But this person is like light years ahead of me,but I'll be sure to check out their tutorials....

well, I wish people would do that with my art :< No one ever wants to comment in ways that would help me fix it.
But if you're serious about art all, or serious about improving those are the tutorials I like to use so that I can improve my art, and it's kind of my plan this year to start going through them and making a lot more progress. Of course all of that will go into my scraps, but still.
I find that learning from people who are much "better" is the easiest way to go instead of someone at about the same level. You can't improve at that same point. Y'know? Must push forward.

Well that's one of the ways to learn. Spotting the flaw? It takes a good eye to see it, rather than just go "oh well I can't do that, so it's perfect" as opposed to "that arm's a little too long, and maybe the knee cap isn't in the right place" or "wow, your moon is oval shaped, way to go" and things like that.
Well if you learn from people who are below/at your level they have NOTHING to teach you. You need someone better. lol.
Why do you think art students study DaVinci and Michaelangelo? I mean fer reals.

True, but no matter what I'll always see nothing but flaws in everything that I do.
That IS a good point, but then again I don't think anyone is below my level.

I totally hear you on the noses part, I used to HATE drawing them. I don't think I actually added them into my cartooning until a couple years ago xD

That's pretty much my feelings toward them too xD
Yes, I think the big one came out really nice! I always have trouble with hands, but the more you practice the better they come out I guess!

Thank you.
I was kinda proud of the big one, simply cause it LOOKS like a hand.
The smaller one is meant to looks like a Hunter's Hand from L4D.

Yeah, I tried drawing a hand a few times, and then I got irritated and drew a hang that I didn't even give a flying fuck about.
It looked better than the hand I actually tried on.

Pfffffffffffft.
I saw it, all I don't like about it are the eyes.
BUT THAT'S WHAT THEY CALL DIFFERENT STYLES.
I'm use to it, but they seem a little to oval for my taste for some reason.
Other than that I think you're really good.
