I think he did show a little. Not on his face though. But his voice. When he first discovered the hole in the beginning he stuttered a bit... like "S-somebody there?" (or something like that)
But that's it. I am guessing he figured that was enough and just forgot to emotionally participate in any scene the rest of the game xD
