Hey I bought a gray gas mask off of ebay, I was wondering what did you use to glue the red acetate on the eyes? Could you still see through it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThirdPotato In reply to oblivious-life [2011-08-11 14:50:03 +0000 UTC]

I could still see through it yes; It's exactly that: red acetate. Fortunately I was at SCAD at the time and they had an art supply store that sold sheets of acetate. I don't know where to get it otherwise though, sorry >,<

oblivious-life In reply to ThirdPotato [2011-08-11 16:15:02 +0000 UTC]

Oh no, I'm fine with finding red acetate XD I love the challenge, buuut how did you attach those sheets to the eyes?

ThirdPotato In reply to oblivious-life [2011-08-11 16:58:18 +0000 UTC]

I just stuck the in the inside of the glass. It had a bit of an edge, so I just cut it to size, and stuck it in. XD

oblivious-life In reply to ThirdPotato [2011-08-11 20:36:07 +0000 UTC]

Ooh okay so you didn't have to take off the glass or anything like that? Cause I don't want to take that chance

A question? Where did you buy the suit and the gas mask? Cause i'm thinking of cosplaying as Pyro next year for AN

ThirdPotato In reply to oblivious-life [2011-07-15 07:37:49 +0000 UTC]

Bought the mask offa ebay and tried looking for it again recently but couldn't find the same make and model. I'm trying to sell it to anyone interested though. I got it for over $35 including s&h. It's modified, though I don't have the canister on the side anymore. All that was was an almond can spraypainted black and adhered with velcro XD Velcro and red acetate for the eyes is still included though

oblivious-life In reply to ThirdPotato [2011-07-15 18:46:21 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, I might buy it off of you. I still need the information where you bought the suit and the belt? And did you make the bombs yourself?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThirdPotato In reply to oblivious-life [2011-07-15 19:54:26 +0000 UTC]

Made everything else my self. The bombs are long soda cans and ductape, the belt was bought by the yard at JoAnn fabrics, sewn into the shape of the harness; the tanks on his back were modified soda bottles. The gloves were bought at a hardware store, the yellow part done with ductape.

Oh really? What fabric did you use to make them? And I'm willing to buy the gas mask off of you. I'll note you the details

ThirdPotato In reply to oblivious-life [2011-07-16 05:07:09 +0000 UTC]

I actually forget the name of the cloth but its a thick canvass like material, that you can find in the heavyweight fabric section of JoAnn Fabrics.

I'm planning on doing a Pyro cosplay myself and I'm wondering how did you go about making the mask? It's the only problem I've been running into thus far :\

Hey, I'm sorry to inform you that after a long hunt for the gasmask, I don't think I"ll be able to sell it afterall >,< It needs a bit of repairs as well. Sorry for the inconvenience TnT

CannedMuffins In reply to ThirdPotato [2011-07-16 09:22:06 +0000 UTC]

Awww it's cool D: I probably wasn't going to be able to buy it in time anyway :T Could you tell me what model of mask you bought though so I can go looking myself? o.o

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ThirdPotato In reply to CannedMuffins [2011-07-16 22:49:21 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately I'm not quite sure the exact model name/number of this style of mask. When I bought it, it was sold as a Dr Who prop. So perhaps try looking up what kind of mask they used in Dr Who, and it'll have the info there. Wish I could help you further! It was a bit hard to find. XDD Best of luck!

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

ThirdPotato In reply to CannedMuffins [2011-07-14 00:57:13 +0000 UTC]

I can actually! Unfortunately I dunno where the spray painted can went, but the mask has 4 velcro spots for a new can.

What we did was just spray painted those short almond cands? You know, like the ones you can get at Target or any grocery store. Then we stuck on those vecro sticker spots on the end of the can.

Anyway, it was quite expensive when I got it, to assure it was the exact kind the Pyro had. I can sell it to you for $30 with $5 s&h, includes the red acetate in the glass to make his eyes red. And I can include for you a pack of velcro. Note me your address if interested! Please respond soon too. I'll be out of town for 3 weeks starting on the 19th

Simply amazing! I'm working towards my own Pyro and I wanna use a GP-6, but how the hell do I cover the hear holes without making it look stupid... Anyway, great job for being done in a pinch. Heh. Me and my little sister just threw together a make-shift Scout, actually. Last minute costumes for the win!

How did you get the gas mask to look like that? It looks like the Russian GP-6 gas mask, but i don't know how you got the filter on the side
