OH gosh that face is horrible, I know XDD but it's more for the proportions, less for the craft >.>But yeah, just a quick-guide of proportions, though it varies for everyone. Personally, I go on a 6-6.5 headheight with my characters, but this is sort of generalized for this tutorial based on more accurate, realistic proportions.

I actually read in places that the distance between the outer eye and the side of the head is more like half the width of the eye. It's the measurement I tend to use, though I'm hardly an expert. I can't recall exactly where I read that, but it might explain why that face looks 'hideous'.
