Thanks Jack! The photo is a quite old one from the beginning of using digital photography (in fact that means only 9 Years ago!). I certenly wouldn't make it today with this high contrast. But still, you are right, it has nevertheless the beauty and strangeness of everyday live. It was simply a find on the beach: On one side you see the beauty of the colour and the structure, on the other side it's part of pollution and killing animals ... but maybe it represents, as you call it, local craftmanship. It all belongs together and you can't separate it in different aspects.
