Description I have seen many photos like this here on DA, but I just wanted to have a go myself.
This is the best of all the photos I took yesterday.

Nice man nice!!! The hardest part is to get proper exposure with such a fast shutter speed 1/500 in this case, did you use a flash or lighting properly around?

I only used the on-camera flash for this shot actually, I can't afford any really good lighting rig yet...

The B&W is a nice change of pace from the usual natural colors used in this type of shot!

Yeah there's plenty of shots like this, but they never cease to amaze me. Water's just so interesting, especially when the moment's been frozen. Great shot.

So how did you shot it? Because all the things I tried for photographing a drop didn’t work …
btw

ThomasJergel In reply to Isidora [2005-06-25 07:38:25 +0000 UTC]

I took the photo in the sink at home, just letting the water dripping with intervals, so I would have a bigger chance at capturing that "one moment".

I used the on-camera flash and tried to time when the drop would actually hit the water, I had to be very precise here, so it took maybe 50 or so photos to get one like this, it's basically trial and error for those who don't have any more expensive or advanced equipment.

So beautifully stunning...really, im jealous^__^. Wish i had a camera good enough to capture such a still shot. Who would have thought that a drop of water could appear so damn awesome? Your result was just great, i can only imagine how patient you would have to be in order to catch this^o^. Really great work man!

Yay! I love the crown effect such a high shutter speed gives. (I wish I could remember the name of the photographer who originally photographed the milk one ;_ Great effect with the water, especially the reflection. ^_^

ThomasJergel In reply to shunyata [2005-06-22 07:22:14 +0000 UTC]

It does make a great effect, but it requires a ton of patience!

The one who had the orinial high-speed milk photo was Harold E. Edgerton, btw!
