Description
Okay, time for a brief history lesson. From 1984 to 1991, an animated spinoff of the Muppet Show, Muppet Babies was aired on CBS and featured younger animated versions of the beloved muppets, and in 1987, Fraggle Rock was given an animated series as well. While the shows were vastly different, one of the few similarities was that, the original puppeteers who voiced their respective muppets in real life were instead replaced by actual voice actors. I remembered this, and I thought: "You know, the regular Muppets got voice actors, and Fraggle Rock had voice actors, why not Sesame Street?" So, I did some thinking, and I came up with my own cast that could voice the muppets of Sesame Street if they had their own animated cartoon.Big Bird: We all know Big Bird as gentle giant, and I think his gentle, somewhat nasaly voice would emmulated nicely by Billy West who does Phillip J. Fry from Futurama.
Oscar the Grouch: Speaking of Futurama, we have another actor from that TV show. John DiMaggio is really good at voicing jerk characters, if Bender from Futurama (And Mr. Grouse and Flip from the Loud House) is any indication, so I think he'd be a perfect fit for our favorite trash-dwelling grump.
Elmo: Okay, Elmo was a tough one to think of a voice for, but I finally settled on Elizabeth Daily, the voice of Tommy Pickles from Rugrats, who I feel sounds most like everyone's favorite three and a half year old red monster.
Abby Cadabby: I think Kari Wahlgren who voices Ketta the Mechanic from the underrated Breadwinners, would be just right to capture the energy of Miss Cadabby.
Ernie: Since he voiced Kermit in Muppet Babies and other animated versions of Kermit, I figured Frank Welker would be just right to perform an animated Ernie.
Bert: Bert's deadpan, uptight, nerdy voice would be great for Sam Marin, who voices the usually angry Benson, from Regular Show.
Cookie Monster: Now, for my favorite muppet, whose gravely, caveman-like voice would be captured greatly by Mark Hamill, who also plays a Regular Show character, Skips
Count Von Count: After hearing Benjamin Diskin voicing Numbuh 1 in Codename: Kids Next Door, I think he'd be a great choice to voice to play our favorite arithmomanic vampire.
Grover: Grover and Pops from Regular Show are very similar, both in personality and voice, so I think Sam Marin also voicing our cute and loveable monster friend would be a great fit.
Zoe: I'm sure Jill Talley has voiced other cheerier characters in her years of voice acting, but Rita Loud, the mother of the Loud House is the cheeriest one I know of.
Telly Monster: Danny Pudi, who voices the 2017 version of Huey Duck in the Ducktales reboot, captrues Telly's constantly scare and over-dramatic personality perfectly.
Rosita: Grey Delisle has shown she's a really good spanish speaker, voicing Frida from El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, so I think she'd be great at voicing the proud, affectionate monster of the caves.
Mr. Snuffleupagus: Since Snuffy was noticeably less happy in his first few years on the show, many people have made the joke that he was Sesame Street's Eeyore, but his attitude is much better now, so I think he deserves to be voiced by Jim Cummings who performs another, happier Winnie the Pooh character, Tigger.
Baby Bear: Since Eric Bauza did a good imitation of a young Fozzie Bear in the 2018 CGI version of Muppet Babies, I think he'd be great at voicing Sesame Street's main fairytale icon, Baby Bear.
Prairie Dawn: Jill Talley has also played some characters that are a little on the cynical and straight-man side, with Karen from SpongeBob SquarePants being the best example, so I think she'd also be great at voicing Prairie Dawn.
Murray: And lastly, I feel like Ben Schwartz's energetic, comedic Dewey Duck from Ducktales 2017 would be a great voice actor to portray, the energetic friendly, Murray Monster.
And that's my list. Now, what do you guys think? Is this a good cast list? Who do you think would be a good fit for these characters?
