Description
Molding racks where I work with over 3000 types of wood moldings for framing purposes. Another 2500 or so around the corner made of metal.I work for one of the largest manufacturers of picture framing products, and consequently, produce vast amounts of custom, made to order picture frames, for everyone to hang thier pride and joy on the wall in.
When I say I'm a picture framer, most people think of the shop down on the corner with Ma and Pa kettle making a frame or two, when it coulnd't be further from the truth as you can see here. On average, in the time I've been emplyed here [4 years] we've manufactured over 87,000 frames and an easy quarter million chops (to be put together by shops themselves). Pretty big differnce I'd say.

Wow! It's mindboggling, really. Just to think of all the frames used to present artwork at its best around the country and world... I'm a bit overawed.

[pats himself on back] I have made some tasty frames over the years, for some very cool people and places. It's an artform in itself to a degree.

It definitely is, no question about it. I'm hopeless at frames...but am saved from the necessity of framing any of my own work because my walls are graced with my daughter's artwork. I love frames! Is that weird?

Not weird at all, I love frames too, have a dozen or so with nothing in them, just like the way they look empty.

They look great in an arrangement on a wall. I took a bunch that I bought second hand (interesting textures, etc.) painted them glossy white, and hung them on a dark wall. Nowadays, no space, but in future, if I have more wall space I'll do it again. I'm relieved that it's not some sort of aberration to love frames...or, at least, that I'm not alone in my aberration! Abby Normal. That's me!

Just having them around makes a house more like a home!

I love the smell of framing workshops...even ones as big as this.

Pretty immense. I think it's 300 x 80 in size. Smells like dust to me.

When I was young, my Dad would take me to work with him on random days. I loved it. Places like these are such nostalgia for me.

I'm glad I could bring back a glimmer of your childhood. Thanks for dropping by, wasn't worth putting up anywhere but here [scraps].

I'm glad you could, too. There aren't many of them.
You're welcome. You know I always look.
