On Friday, April 23, 2030, the Democratic lead US government launched Operation Emancipation on the Free States of America. With Power and resources waning, the AOC Administration was growing very desperate. The elites who had once been able to feast and enjoy plentiful resources were forced to ration materials even among their posh circles.

The DNC had few allies as even the SAC was no longer taking the White House's calls. The DNC rallied what forces it could and prepared to reclaim the resource-rich red states and their vast supply network. Despite being a joke on the global stage, the Harris Administration was given numerous boosts from the EU, China, and Saudi Arabia. This allowed it to maintain its military enough to delve the continental United States into a civil war.

Forces from the 82nd Airborne and a newly minted elite force, the 89th Combined Warfare group, as the white house sold them, were the apex of true warriors that only inclusiveness and equity could produce. This untrained, politically focused gang replaced many defecting and well-trained soldiers who fled to the FSA. Given the US military's best equipment, this unit mainly was pardoned felons. The attack would come on an early morning, hoping to catch the FSA unaware and to have as many civilians present when Democrat soldiers burned the Capital of Houston to the ground. All Free State elected officials would be summarily executed for daring to stand against Democracy.

Everyone in the FSA knew about the horrible life everyone in blue states endured. Not only were Christians and republicans forbidden from living outside of labor camps,but anyone who showed even the slightest doubt in the DNC was subjected to horrific abuses. The blue states environment was raped with whole forests stripped bare for gold mining. Due to socialist policies and media availability most people in blue states were littlemore than robots. The basic systems educating children were unbridled with liberal jingoism and Stepford wife-like indoctrination practices. It had been a long time since basic math and sciences were taught to anyone by the union schools. Indeed, most people living under the NewMerica were so delusional that they thought the failing infrastructure was the fault of invisible FSA death squads because the social media and Disinformation ministers told them so. No reasonable discussion could change the liberal mindsets from their preconceived delusions of the FSA. Indeed many hard-line policies of the FSA came as a reaction to the abusive nation of the "People's Republic" of America.

The first physical strike was a fleet of F-35 and F22 fighter jets to take down air defenses and communication systems. Almost everything in the opening wave went according to plan. Except for the fact that many of the air defense networks were ready. Of course, the Free State of America had long known they would never live free if the United States had its way. The USAF may have destroyed the FSA's fixed air defenses; however, most air defense systems were constantly moving. These units were hidden in cargo trucks or high mobility platforms like the LAV-AD that would drive through the back roads and rivers patrolling for targets. The attacking aircraft suffered 20% casualties before even reaching their targets.

The Free States military was ready as the transport aircraft came in just before dawn. National Guard Pilots wisely chose to shoot down the heavy C-5 Galaxy and C-17 cargo planes first before finishing off any Helicopters or C-130s. By 9 am, Operation Emancipation had fallen into complete disarray. Despite being technically superior to FSAF, the USAF stealth fighters promptly retreated as their pilots refused to remain in hostile airspace as their job in the mission was technically over. The air attack would be the only successful portion of the operation. The Free States Navy would butcher the attempted marine landings in what would later be dubbed the Great Gulf Turkey shoot and saw every USN asset sunk or severely damaged in the Gulf of Mexico. The FSA states would launch their Air National guard assets to clear the sky while the FSAF attacked hostile assets. Navy Seals of Team 9 had landed ashore in Houston but were quickly bogged down when they decided that they had time to rape and torture some beach going teenage girls. Their detour to rape children would be caught on tiktok. This event would be used by Joshua Stone to rise to power after the crisis with countless hardline policies that would bring strength to the demoralized America.

The only troops who did manage to make it to their Landing Zones successfully were poorly equipped for a prolonged fight. The heaviest weapons they could muster were AT4 rocket launchers. Worse, many civilians had formed into militias and began hunting down the survivors. Many of the soldiers were unwilling to lay down and die and rallied in a local suburb development for the refugees who fled blue states and prepared for a fight. The FSMC 1st Battalion 24th Marines and the 1st Cavalry Division from Fort Hood would be the first military units to respond. Most of the refugees were either dead or brutally punished by the criminal elements of the 89th. Police and militias had been able to pin down their enemy. The weekend would turn the suburb into a full-scale war zone as helicopter gunships hammered any well-defended position for the IFVs and infantry.
