Description
inspired by a child that was screaming "girl" as I passed the car he was sitting in. It started as an illustration of him... but somewhere in the middle I thought it to be me.18X24 inches

your pastels are magnificent.
i've got to fave one of them.
i like this one the best. the tonality of it.
the way the colors stay very close to the
same family with subtle touches from
others.
the linework is also very nicely done.

what can i say that hasn't already been said. I've never really been much into most abstract art but there are some pieces like this that make me appreciate it a little more.

This is really great. You have totally captured the evil bratty nature of little kids. (shudder). i love the way that you described the fact that the picture began to look like you after a while. It;s almost as if the kids animosity was absorbed by you and you just wanted to reflect it back at the kid with all of the venom you could muster. Maybe you wanted to make him feel awkward and embarassed too. But of course, its just a litte kid and you are far too nice to do anything so vicious. Good job pumpkin. Keep up the great work. (and stay away from collages LOL)

Sorry i've been a tad behind lately.
This is an absolutely astounding piece... it really shows your abilities because not only are you continuing to show great abilities in the medium, but you can do it over a spread of artistic styles and flows and decisions. ((OMFG I just realized its snowing outside... its april WTF!!!!! ... )) It's a great piece, its a bit like a disturbing cubic portrait, it carries a certain mystery in it to me which has an ominous overtone. Thanks for letting us in on the inspiration, its good to get that little insight on occasion.
I can't even really suggest anything for this, you simply rock. I'm amazed by you with every single thing you do.

Spectacular geometric control, Daniel....
I agree with freehand on all points other than the animosity part -- I absolutely see a rotund and malicious little old man (or I suppose, spiteful child) rubbing his nasty little hands with glee... the colors are great and perfectly adapted to the subject matter - rusts and reds...

Hm, yes the figure is well defined here despite the abstractness. The visual clues are better coordinated with the over all pattern here. Namely the finger nails and teeth. I do see a child, possibly holding something. Im looking for where the 'animosity' is coming from, but i dont see it. *sigh* Im loving the earth tones here, and that whitish color serves as highlight; adding depth. I also note the single shot of the lilac/lavender you like so much in the upper left.
This is very well done. I feel these are 'studies' in a sense; your progress is obvious... I expect to be absolutely blown away by your work in the near future if these are any indication of whats to come. +Fave

This is really great . You've maintained a personality in the midst of abstracted chaos ... no mean feat . It flows together so seemlessly . Great, again .

Wow! I love that! Cubism is so interesting when you have to work out what's going on. And you pull it off so well. The colours are appropriate. The face looks very chubby and glutton, like a spolit child. The way that is the focal point kinda shows to me that the child is drawing attention to himself with his screaming, and the mouth and eyes are always the most emotive parts in this emotion. The fingers also seem to represent how a childs hands are always everywhere and very curious. Gr8 work!
