Description
Near isn't very good at interacting with other people on an emotional level...in fact, you might even say he doesn't know how to, judging by his interactions with people in the canon. It's like he's got a little glass shield that people can see him through, but can't reach him through...Hence this picture.
Near is from the anime/manga Death Note, and belongs to Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata.
I give permission to the clubs I'm in to re-post this in their galleries and link back to the original.

LOL; that's because he's in his own little world anyway! Being in a glass dome doesn't bother him. (I imagine it will once he realizes there are no toys in there with him, though. )
*Envisions little Near being shaken around in his snow globe* XDDD LOL! That'd be cute in a mean kind of way, because the poor little thing would end up all disheveled.

I'm sure he's about realized that he has nothing to do in there...at least with snow there would be something to do (he'd piece each little flake together and create something amazing!).
Poor Near...I'd want to hug him then/straighten his hair and clothing but the glass dome would make it hard to do so

You're right, he'd made something amazing out of the snowflakes--and in the process he'd probably completely solve the problem of how to get out of a glass dome.

I'd say he'd make a plastic rotating saw out of the snowflakes...or a snowflake launcher powered by his typical motion (aka twirling his hair) which would work so well it would crack the glass ^_^

Threshie In reply to RuneQuicksilver [2009-01-09 02:50:20 +0000 UTC]
XD I like that last one best! Or maybe he'd do the classic way to weaken glass--break a hair's-width hole, and thus the entire structure around it would weaken. How he'd do that with snowflakes, I don't know, but he'd find a way!

He would probably figure out some really simple way which neither of us thought of just now.
Either that, or the complete opposite (so elaborate that only HE would have wanted to come up with it).

Yeah, you're right. That's one challenge when writing about the Wammy's House boys--they're all geniuses, and I'm not a genius, so I hopefully am not dumbing them down.

I doubt you are dumbing them down! Geniuses tend to have a lot of brains, but sometimes lack in common sense (I say SOMETIMES, not always). At least, a few of the geniuses I know are that way ^_^.

Hehe...true, and besides, my plotlines tend to be about character relationships more than the intellectual stuff that the characters do for their jobs. There's some of that in the background, but it's not really that integral to the plot. Well, except when L...er... *Hushes self* Don't wanna spoil anything, eheh.

Haha I consider both, depending on what angle I'm trying to get readers to see. Focusing on one or the other is not a bad thing at all though!
Oh good catch...so close to giving something awesome away!

L unfortunately isn't in this fic as much as I would like, but I'm going to write some fic starring him more prominently after I finish this one to make up for it.

I will have to read your fictions...all of them! I'll be working on that as soon as school kicks back up (ironically when I'm in school I have nothing to do. I do the homework but then I've got this large space of free time, y'know?)

Yes, I read, write, play music, take karate...loads of random stuff that somehow still leaves space in a day for me to sit in front of the computer and spend a couple hours on it ^_^.
I don't have as many distractions up at college, thus somehow magically freeing up my time. I think that is what happens to me.

Threshie In reply to RuneQuicksilver [2009-01-10 05:59:48 +0000 UTC]
Exactly why there aren't many books on procrastination (or the ones that do exist are by people who don't know firsthand)--because the TRUE procrastinators would never get around to writing the darn thing!
The only reason I finished my essay was the due date. I may procrastinate to the very last minute, but I always do all of my college assignments and turn them in on time--it's a rule I have for myself.

RuneQuicksilver In reply to Threshie [2009-01-10 06:06:58 +0000 UTC]
Due dates are a nonissue for me, though I'm glad they are present. I procrastinate only to a certain degree, so I doubt I would be writing that book at all. Studying...homework...things that people say they hate I rarely find hard to sit down and do (there are some days where I'd rather be doing something else...but blah, everyone feels that way).

Threshie In reply to RuneQuicksilver [2009-01-12 02:41:17 +0000 UTC]
I usually kind of enjoy the homework when I actually sit down to do it...I just procrastinate the sitting down and starting part, for some reason.
I've only ever turned something in late on maybe three occasions.

I was a bad kid at one point...not wanting to do homework and turn it in and such. I always loved the learning part of school, just not the work I guess.
I'm over that, and I get very good grades. Maybe my higher level classes helped me raise the bar for myself.

XD; That actually sounds like something Near might DO, inviting tons of people over and then avoiding them. He's anti-social, as evidenced by that scene at Wammy's where he refuses to go outside and play with the other children.
As for germophobia...the artist of Death Note thinks of L as a clean freak, and says that's why he had him hold everything like it was something dirty.

Ah, believe it or not it's got a lot more text than pictures. There are pictures of every character in there, but I occasionally have to look up reference pics for some of them anyway. For example, it doesn't have a full-body outfit reference for Matt.
I need to get the artbook for that...
Sounds like a nice guy!
