The other mysterious predator mentioned in the bio of the Castocetus is the terrible Skinwalker. In both size and niche it is comparable to the coyote, and its name is twofold in origin; on one hand it is notable for a striking and colorful pelt, with beautiful oranges, browns, greys, yellows, and even deep reds. I mean look at the vividness, contrast, and saturation of the wide pallet of colors in the image above, it is simply gorgeous. If these animals coexisted with humans, they would surely be hunted for their magnificent pelts. The second origin of their name is far more metaphorical; the Skinwalker is notable for being able to thrive in nearly every environment on the continent. From as far North as the Yukon to as far South as Yucatan, these bastards are everywhere. They live in forests, deserts, tundras, mountains, swamps, grasslands, river deltas, and pretty much everything else. Their long and thin body moves excellently in the water making them powerful swimmers, and their long claws and semi-opposable fingers allow an incredible climbing ability. Their wide paws can act as snowshoes in deep snow, and their thick fur protects them from wind, rain, snow, and sun. And they eat about everything. Typically they will only go for smaller animals like rodents, frogs, fish, turtles, and other woodland friends, though they also feed on carrion, eggs, and occasionally berries. Particularly large individuals will take down more sizeable prey like gophers, woodchucks, and Rat-peccaries. Some larger individuals have been observed taking down prey as large as a Ratpig, though this is quite rare. The largest animals they regularly prey on is the Harbour seal-sized Castocetus, attacking mainly while the large rodents are defenseless on land, though they also hunt in the water by a careful ambush amongst the reeds. Unlike the coyote, the Skinwalker is a solitary animal, and it doesn't like to look at the fabulous coat of its own kind; it's very arrogant like that.
