Thrythlind — My Zombie Apocalypse Team

Description I've seen this meme around, and every time the question of "who would you have on your zombie apocalypse team if it could be anybody from fiction" has come up, the answers I've seen were all fighter and scientist types with a smattering of superheroes and low-magic type sorcerers.

I've always wondered why the heck nobody has ever thought: "I'd like a team full of 20+ level D&D style clerics please".

I'm mean, even before you get into spells, there's turn undead....which with a level 20+ cleric is enough to incinerate loads of undead with merely a glance.  At upper levels in some versions, there's even ways to make it a lasting aura.

Then you get into 9th level and EPIC level spells which have the ability to cleanse an entire city of undead.

As for infection.  Cure Disease, Mass Cure Disease....heck there are first level spells which prevent undeath causing things.

I mean, even one 20th level or higher cleric would be enough to make a zombie apocalypse last somewhere around 2 minutes.  But if you're telling me I can have a full team from anywhere in imagination???

Anyway

Etoh, Record of Lodoss War
Goldmoon, Dragonlance
Neese, Record of Lodoss War
Cadderly Bonaduce, Forgotten Realms
Amelia Wil Tesla Saillune, Slayers
Eija Semezou, Divine Blood (yeah, she's mine...I started running short on clerics)
Liriel Baenre, Forgotten Realms (also a wizard)
Castiel, Supernatural
Hel Logesdottir, Divine Blood (another of mine...actually, Hel is afraid of dead things...I'd prefer Persephone, but no pic of her)
Qilue Veladorn, Forgotten Realms (also a Chosen of Mystra)
Zhara, Forgotten Realms (technically, that's Alias, but Zhara is essentially a clone of Alias...soo)
Robyn Kendrick, Forgotten Realms

Yah, a party of high level clerics and paladins are pretty much the doom of any zombie or vampire outbreak, I recall how good high level clerics and paladins from Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor and the Baldur's gate series could deal with any sort of undead.

clerics managed to become the single most overpowered class in 3.X

Perhaps but there's something satisfying watching groups undead explode into dust or what ever it is... I picture the rest of the party staring with the unasked question of why didn't they just do that in the first place.

I was agreeing with you.  Basically, in general clerics do similar damage to wizards....against undead, it's several orders magnitude worse.

Why so many clerics?

because all the enemies would be undead...the best possible "survival" team is one that makes zombies and infection a non-issue.
