Josephine Sanders - otherwise known as Joey - is a wandering 16-year-old girl who lives a mostly solitary, nomadic lifestyle.

Joey has lived on her own ever since she could remember; she does not know why her parents are not in her life, and she does not want to know. Rather, she saw it as a way to become "truly independent," and live on her own, and by her own rules. She even ran away from the orphanage she lived at as soon as she turned ten, and she looks for work whenever she sees it on her travels. Often, her compensation for this work is money, but it can also be goods and services, like staying the night at someone's house or being able to use their appliances to wash her only set of clothes, or shower to clean herself.

Her money always goes towards food and drinks, which resulted in both a pot belly, and a lot of gas.
