"Adina.... Run."

The words only partially left Desirae's mouth before she turned towards where her daughter was, scowling slightly. "RUN!!!" She shouted with more emphasis. Adina let out a soft squeak before turning to run away from the scene, darting towards the alleyway. However, before she made it there, she tripped on a misplaced stone in the path, skidding across the ground and wincing, tears pricking the corners of her eyes. With a sniffle, Adina looked at her scraped arms before an ominous shadow loomed over her, causing her to look up and shriek. "MOMMA!!!" Desirae glanced up, seeing the deelagun reaching out a clawed hand to stamp Adina, panicking and running forward, snatching Adina up in her arms before running behind the closest building and pressing her back against the wall, hearing a loud smash as the spite slammed it's hand down where they had been only seconds ago.

After catching her breath, Desirae gently placed Adina down, nuzzling her and wiping away her tears. "Shhh, sweetie.... It's okay...." She cooed, waiting until Adina's tears slowed and her breathing returned to normal. "Listen.... I want you to run to the nook as fast as possible. Don't turn back, don't stop, and stay quiet, alright?"

"But.... What about you?" Adina replied with a whimper, ears drooping. Desirae gave her a smile, setting one hand on her shoulder. "I'll be fine...." "Do you promise....?" Desirae winced at the words, turning away a bit. "You're wasting time Adina. Go, quickly." She responded, glancing over her shoulder once hearing the soft pattering of footsteps running off towards the nook, letting her smile falter. She couldn't promise she would be fine. Honestly, she couldn't even promise that by the time this was over, she would still be alive....

"Desirae!" A worried voice called out, making her turn to see Ares running towards her, the deelagun having gotten distracted by another fight. "Hey, are you okay? Where's Adina?" He asked hurriedly, looking around a bit. "I told her to run to the nook." Desirae responded, looking downwards a bit. "Des.... What's wrong....?" Ares added, coming closer. Tears pricked the corners of her eyes as she began shaking a bit. "I.... I-I'm scared...." Desirae closed her eyes, looking down. Weak, pathetic.... You're so useless....

"You don't need to be scared." Ares reached out with his wing, brushing her tears away before pulling her into a hug, gently pressing his nose against hers. "You are one of the strongest, bravest gros I know.... I'll be right here by your side. You don't have to fight alone. You won't be." Desirae nodded a bit, taking a deep breath. "Yeah.... Y-yeah, okay, you're right.... We can do this...." She took a step back, looking up. "We can protect our home- Our town- Together."

"That's the spirit," Ares gave her a smile, one which she returned; until she noticed the orange glow coming from behind him. Her face instantly turned into one of mortification and she reached out. "ARES LOOK OUT!" She screeched, causing him to look behind him, eyes widening. The deelagun's maw was open, a blast of fire building up in the back of its throat as it prepared to attack. Instinctively, Ares raised one of his wings to shield himself from the fire, expecting to feel a blazing blast, only to slowly lower it and see Hadyn had lept in front of him, holding up a shield and wearing armor.

Desirae gasped, running forward and pulling Ares back away a bit. "Hadyn?! What are you doing?! You're gonna get hu-" "Shut up." Hadyn snapped back, cutting her off before, rolling out of the way of the fire, throwing something towards the deelagun causing it to hiss and retreat back towards the nova tree more.
