Description LOL yes, I did this instead of working on page 6 of Madland.

Basically the thought process behind this was: when the Avatar becomes fully realized, Aang's gonna need to represent all four nations in his dress style, so I'd better design him some clothings. I was going to create a style that encompassed all four nations, but it's getting late, and I'm lazy. YES I HAVE TOO MUCH FREE TIME

I know he technically already had a Fire Nation outfit, but well.. yeah, I wasn't a big fan of that one. It looked kinda...stolen. Plus, the headband was necessary to pull off that look, and hair made Aang look like that kid from Wonder Years.

I still think "Heart" should have been an element. Heartbending!

Is 'bender' slang for 'gay' in America too? Cos I always, no matter how childish it may be, giggle whenever anyone says something along the lines of "that guy is one powerful bender!"

Still heartbending, yes that would be cool, but it could get nasty very quickly! Not suitables for the chillens methinks...

Not that I know of.. that's pretty funny Then again, when I went to England I was amused at how often the word "fag" was thrown around...

Lol yes. I will counteract this with how it makes me lol that 'fanny' in America means a butt. Ah, I love colloquialisms!

lol goodtimes, goodtimes. I remember on the Simpsons, Marge saying something like: "I'm not sliding fanny-first down a hill" and I was like DUDE. Entertained me for quite a while =3

When I first saw this, the first thing that came to mind was the Four Sword(from Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures) Now that would be a plot twist.

i like ike :V he's a powerhouse. slow with poor jumps, but superb staying ability.

a friend of mine got mariokart wii, and it's pretty awesome.

the character selection is righteous (dry bones AND dry bowser, rosalina, etc) and you can even select your own mii.

i'm at odds as to whether to get okami or MKWii first, though.

I've been considering getting a wii, but we're in sort of a money crunch with the wedding and all >.< I got a gamecube a few months ago, it was like 30 bucks and probably the last console we're getting for a looooong time.

I do so love mario though.

Plus...the artwork is REALLY solid.

MyLaundryStinks [2008-06-25 07:25:02 +0000 UTC]

I am only familiar with the concept of 'Avatar' in theory. See, to me, an Avatar is a person/thing that represents one in a game. Primarily a computer based game. It's also a fancy word for an icon.

I know his name is Ang and I know he's an airbender. To get me to learn any more than that would be similar to trying to teach a cat to swim.

His face, in the green outfit, reminds me of that of Tommy Pickle from Rugrats.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

thundercake In reply to MyLaundryStinks [2008-06-25 07:49:52 +0000 UTC]

It's basically any person that acts as the mouthpiece of a deity or god. Although the "god" in Avatar isn't really god, it's more like the concept of unity.

It's a cool show. I was surprised how good it was, and I'm sort of addicted to it now

MyLaundryStinks In reply to thundercake [2008-06-25 14:44:42 +0000 UTC]

Heh. You're an addict.
I wish I had time to get addicted to something fun like that. I mean, I've got tv shows, sure, but I work more than I have time to watch anything. Plus, I'm generally working when all the cartoons are on.
I miss the olden days of DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Bruno the Kid (best show EVER!), Darkwing Duck and Doug. I feel that with a few rare exceptions, afternoon cartoons have sorely gone downhill.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

thundercake In reply to MyLaundryStinks [2008-06-25 18:44:06 +0000 UTC]

I agree, cartoons are fundamentally different these days. I can't really put my finger on it. I guess they're catering to kids who are severely overstimulated...kids are jaded by the internet, and everything that's marketed to them is in the "extreme". When I see kid's shows nowadays (usually in hotel rooms - I have no cable), there's no subtlety at all, everyone's loud and brightly colored, the action moves too fast and the characters are all one-dimensional.

That's why Avatar was such a breath of fresh air (so to speak). It moves slowly, the humor is genuinely funny without being juvenile or crass, there's a solid plot, quality animation, and the characters are believable.
