This is my final piece for cypherx's contest here: [link]The theme is "Best Friends", and as I said in my scrap, my idea was my own childhood best friend, which was a big friendly tree. I used to practically live outdoors, and decided at an early age that tall, strong and silent was definitely my type.
The little girl is no longer "young me" because I did not have red hair, and probably would have gagged at the idea of pigtails, but I did have a bathing suit that looked like that.
I spent about four days painting this on and off, not sure of the exact time...but the original is BIG, so it took longer than usual. I'm quite happy with it. Obviously, my favourite part of this is the tree. Trees are all-around my favorite things to paint now.

Nice. The coloring in this is just too cute - it's like something out of a children's book.
Incidentally ... where I live, we have a bunch of big trees in the back yard area, which is an open area on the side of our apartment buildings. There's an old woman that comes with her granddaughter and she HUGS all the trees in the back every time she's there!

I have my very own bone foot that I use for reference...I think it's real bone too, which is slightly creepy...I bought it at a yard sale.
