When Garrosh dropped the giant mana bomb on thermore utterly destroying it and also killing Rhonin (Leader of the Kirin Tor before Jaina) she was pushed through a portal just before it exploded, but the energy travelled with her. When she woke up she was covered in arcane energy and and only one part of her hair was blonde. When she went back and touched her apprentice, she shattered into arcane dust and floated away.
She barely escaped.

Yeah, that's the timeframe, end of Cata, start of pandaland, it was the first 5.0 patch. Personally, it saddens me to no end what they've done with what used to be an awesome character.
