Description
This is supposed to be an alternative scene for the Lion Guard episode "The Scorpion Sting" and what I think would happen if Fuli and Bunga arrived too late to save Simba's life. As the Lion Guard race across the savannah, they start to worry about making it back in time. With Fuli being the only one fast enough to reach Pride Rock before sundown, Bunga offers to carry the gourd on her back. The offer is accepted, and Fuli speeds away. Meanwhile, at Pride Rock, a distressed Rafiki peers over the Pride Lands, fearing for his old friend. He enters Pride Rock to check up on Simba. Rafiki inspects Simba over as to his surprise he discovers that Simba had stopped breathing. Nala and Kiara glanced at Rafiki.

Nala: "Well Rafiki, how is Simba's state?"

Rafiki: "I'm so very sorry, Nala... But I'm afraid that Simba has completed his journey in the circle of life." *Rafiki wiped a tear from his eye as his eyes glanced towards the entrance. Fuli was running into the den with carrying Bunga on her back.*

Bunga: "Rafiki! Rafiki!"

Rafiki: "Bunga..."

Bunga: "We got the ash! We got the--" *Bunga gets off Fuli's back as a look of concern washes over his face. He sees Nala sobbing into her mate's mane.*

Fuli: *Her ears droop.* "No... We arrived too late."

Rafiki: *Pulls the two aside away from Nala and Kiara to give them their space to grieve in peace.* "I'm afraid Simba passed on only a few moments ago. The venom spread and claimed his life..."

Fuli: "What are we going to tell Kion?"

Rafiki: "Nothing... He needs to be with his mother and sister right now."

Kion: "Dad! Dad!" *Kion and the rest of the Lion Guard arrive, He is dismayed to find his father still on his side, with his mother and sister deeply upset.* "Dad?" *He gently nudges his father, But Simba doesn't stir awake."

Kiara: *She approaches her younger brother and nuzzles Kion.* "Dad is gone, Kion... You came back too late." *She cries against Kion's shoulder as both of Simba's cubs look on at his lifeless body.*

Kion: "No...!" *Kion looks at his mother as she let out a few tears.* "Mom, I'm so sorry..." *Both Kiara and Kion go to Nala and all three comfort each other for their great loss for their family.*

Rafiki: "Come everyone. Let's leave the family to grieve alone." *Rafiki ushers everyone out to give Nala Kion and Kiara their space. As they all leave, Fuli pulls Rafiki to the side. She wanted to let the old mandril know what they encountered while at the volcano."

Fuli: "Rafiki. I need to talk with you."

Rafiki: *He turns to face Fuli* "What is it young cheetah?"

Fuli: "While we were at the volcano we encountered Scar!

Rafiki: "Scar?"

Fuli: "Yes. He was in the flames of the volcano. He was the one who sent the scorpion to sting and kill Simba. Kion thinks... Kion thinks he wants to destroy the Pride Lands!"

Rafiki: "Evil... has returned. You are right to bring this troubling news to my attention, Fuli. We will tell Nala about this. But first, you must let her and her family grieve and rest. I will make sure all three of them are well taken care of."

Fuli: "Thanks, Rafiki. Lion Guard, it's our job to protect the Pride Lands. And that job just got a lot harder. It's gonna be a tough fight... But we will defeat Scar." *As the wind blew through Fuli's fur she and the rest of the guard glared out to the volcano in the far off distance. Scar's final demise was coming it was just a matter of time and patience to plan a careful strategy on how to go about it.*
