Description .
Just a doodle of my MTAC Omega Convention experience this month from April 6 - 8.

Not meant to offend, but I offer my apologies anyway, as contention is in many's impulsive nature.

Damn, you didn't do well either. I wonder how many in A. Alley it sucked for them?

They seemed do be doing fine to me...though I know no one on the A.Alley.

But see? You have plenty of company. And quite a number of folks do like your work. They are few, to be sure, but great work is always like that, unfortunately. The general masses just don't get it... and some never do. They go through life not even knowing Da Vinci exists...

You know, you'd probably be HUGE in Europe. I am beginning to believe that for myself. Thus, I have been planning a trip out to London and then France and see if I can't make it out there. Sometimes, we're just in the wrong market...

Most of my planning involves financial logistics... where to live, how to go about finding work when I am there... You are an exceptional artist... sort of like if Einstein remained in his small town, he'd go nowhere, you know?

I've sent my manga to Germany and Finland, and to another French publisher other than 'Les Editions Muffins'. Germany sent all my stuff back, and I never heard from the other 2 companies. My French buddy keeps telling me to send more of my stuff to other French publishers, and I have, but no replies.

Besides that, I so much like that since Europe got into manga and anime waaay before America did, they have so many translated books, and they do the good stuff! I doubt the US will ever license Tezuka's Don Dracula or the manga he did on Beethoven. Europe appreciates the quality of their manga and anime. When the hell will the US ever distribute Versailles No Bara? Probably never.

But if you decide to live in Europe somewhere, take me with you dude!!

I really like your work, but the grammar is about to drive me batty.... and I'm sorry you had such an unpleasant experience at the con... would it be too presumptuous to offer to fix the grammar in a few panels?

I got the corrections, thank you very much! I hope I got the raw layers so I can begin editing soon.

lulighttec In reply to Thundertori [2012-04-22 21:55:21 +0000 UTC]

raw layers?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thundertori In reply to lulighttec [2012-04-23 02:59:40 +0000 UTC]

Its the layers of the image, a file that hasn't 'flattened' the type/fonts and other things onto the image in Photoshop. I always keep 2 files of an image, the file that is work-in-progress but halted (the raws), and the 2nd file is the Final image with all layers flattened on the page. So if I have to make any changes, instead of cutting and pasting areas on the final image, I can use the raw layers of the 1st file that can still be edited without messing up the image below the layers of type/fonts, color, etc..

lulighttec In reply to Thundertori [2012-04-27 19:50:23 +0000 UTC]

I use photoshop all the time and have done the same thing.... so that completely makes sense... I was just thrown off by the comment that you were waiting for the layers, or hoped that you'd get them soon, or something like that.

oh noes! I'm sorry things didn't go so well... It's always sad and frustrating to see such blatantly immature and rude behavior like that from people, especially in a community that's supposedly more open-minded than others... I hope future cons go better for you. I'm trying to save up money to go to yaoi con this year, so hopefully I'll see you there. =^_^=

Oh man. I'm sorry it went like that. I really dislike that cons have those elitists. Really kind of ruins the whole experience for me. And the folks that ask questions when the answer if right in front of their face.... That's normal unfortunately. Sometimes I even catch myself doing that and I hate it so much. I spent most of my youth working in theme parks and people would ask the stupidest question. "Where's the bathroom?" "It's the building you're standing in front of, sir/ma'am." -_- "Where are the drink stands?" See previous answer. People just get tunnel vision and It's soooo annoying. Sigh. Is your foot doing any better? Keep it elevated. I hope Pheonix con is going to be better. Hugs from Texas.

Thank you for the comments! *hugs* I hope you are doing well. My foot is better but I have to keep it bound until next week. And yeah, it was kind of annoying repeating myself, but its like, "Well, might as well get use to it for now." >_<;;

I've never heard of anyone, especially an artist, enjoying MTAC. The things I have heard about it have kept me from attending despite its geographical closeness to me. I'm really sorry you had such a bad time><. Even at the nicer conventions, I have the experience of people having overtly contrived freak-outs over the fact that there is yaoi at my table. Bring on the latent homophobia!

And yeah... the spider experts coming in front of the table and standing there for the sole purpose of being the centre of attention... Always fun having some remote table location, too...

Good to know that doesn't stop even when an artist becomes as awesome as you-_-. That being said, I love your comic, even if it is sad. It's so much more interesting than just reading a description of the con in a journal! I read it and kept thinking, 'Ugh, I hate it when that happens to me><'.

Aww, that's terrible! D; Even in here (Finland) yaoi is a big hit and people aren't afraid to show it as long as their able to get some. xD I even saw some guys selling it. Twice.

Indeed your table seems to be in a bad spot too.. People don't want to look anything in that point anymore.. <.<;

Hey, look, I can see my table way at the end there Your table was in a really crappy spot, especially for someone so professional. I figured they'd just stick the delusional amateurs over there in the end of nowhere, but evidently not.

I'm sorry the con sucked for you, and you had a yaoi avoidance zone >> I hadn't thought about yaoi artists having that problem. I hope that your Phoenix con makes up for this one (and that you come back next year, when they hopefully have some issues worked out).

I'm sorry to hear that the con was a bust honey. I hope things go better, you could think of it this way-one bad con experience will lead to 3 good ones. I hope you feel better and wish you the best of luck.
