Description
This is the very first level of my little Labyrinth fangame based on the Jim Henson movie of the same name. I tried to fit it to the first moments when Sarah enters the Labyrinth and still create a level that would game-play wise be entertaining. It already has some population, such as goblins, Hoggle and the allmighty goblin king himself but it is still a long way to go.
Software used: 3ds, ZBrush, Quixel, Unreal Engine 4

Glad to hear that. It is a hobby project so it might take me a while though...

This looks AWESOME!
Of all the movies that need a game, Labyrinth does.

I agree with you, Labyrinth offers so much great game design ideas and the world just begs for being explorable.

Well it helps that it had the mind of Jim Henson behind it. You know the worlds he created were odd, whimsical, and a tad terrifying.

And never forget Brian Froud, his concepts for the creatures also add a lot to the whole world. He has a very unique style, which is very hard to replicate (at least for me).

Oh, it's just hard to replicate period. Brian Froud deffinetly had a unique artstyle that can never be properly duplicated. So it'll be interesting to see how they'll attempt to do so with that new Dark Crystal show coming out.

I'm sure they will. If they don't, I'm sure you'll be able to find other ways to see it. I just hope it's worth the wait.

Yeah, but watching a show in original language if you are not a native speaker can be tough...but on the other hand, they ruined Labyrinth with a bad translation, instead of that famous "love me, fear me do as I say" they translated it as "You do not need to love me, only fear me.", so maybe I should watch the show in english right from the start. I am very positive about Dark Crystal actually, I was more worried when rumours appeared about a Labyrinth reboot movie some years ago.

...They DARE misinterpret David Bowie!? What cruel language would do such a thing!
I'm hopeful for Dark Crystal, as I am very curious to see what stories they will tell and how the practical effects will look. But a Labyrinth reboot? They were really thinking about that? Well they could improve the plot a little bit, and maybe make the female lead a bit more interesting, but there is no way they can do it without Bowie. He IS that movie!

I guess they made that on purpose, as Germany is very strict and having Bowie say something like that to an underaged girl was too much for them...
Yeah, I heard various stories about it, and especially the one saying that Disney would do it, made me nervous. Some people have bet, that Jared Leto will play Jareth...but I can nor want to imagine anybody else in that role, no matter whether it is a good actor or not. No one can beat Bowie.

Well Germany... You have a point, but still, HOW DARE YOU!
First off, Disney and Labyrinth? That sounds pretty awesome to me, especially if they still used practical effects. Second, Jared Leto? No! Just no! Why do people keep casting him? He doesn't seem that particularly good, and can he even sing? If they DO reboot it, they could at least find someone who COULD rival Bowie... Which is NO ONE!

I like the original script better too, makes more sense to me.
I am no fan of Disney these days, the ruined Beauty and the beast for me...
Jared Leto because the name? And yes, he can sing, he has a rock band called "30 seconds to Mars", to my mind, he is a better musician than actor.
I would not mind a full CG movie made by ILM, that would give is the option to see David one more time.

Yes, in a very nonsensical way.
No matter how many Maleficents or Wander over Yanders they make, I can't ever hate Disney. I've known Disney all my life. Heck, my biggest picture in my gallery is a Disney picture. Sure the live action Beauty and the Beast was meh, but you've still got the original animated classic with a Belle that can actually sing.
Yeah, that wouldn't really surprise me. Maybe he can write a song about how many of his scenes as the Joker got cut from Suicide Squad.
Wait, you want a CGI David Bowie? No way! That would be too weird and just wrong. Sure it would look like Bowie, sound like Bowie, and may even act like Bowie, but nothing can ever compare to the original. Especially if it's a fake, if not very impressive, CGI recreation.

Yes, it will support windows only. But the development is still at the very beginning and it is also "only" a sideproject, so it might take some time before something playable is ready. I will post all updates here, thank you for your interest.

Ahh, the old 3D studio software with the dongle, lol. We had a lot of jokes with that name especially when we couldn't find the dongle. Looks great!
