Because you're a kid now.... again.  And in this game kids are USELESS, no matter if you were a human many years older than you appear to be as a Chimchar.

It's like in Jumanji, how they start the game, then nothing happens for 26 years, then they finish the game and everything reverts back to when they started the game. I can't be the only one that realized that the girl that lived a pretty normal life in between that time had to graduate, earn her degree, and go through puberty all over again.

But hey, at least in the second time, she got to marry Robin Williams.
