Sheet 4/40+Shinki's design for MoWaS (I only changed the colour of his headband)
I don't like the way his character is written and utilised in Boruto, so I'm giving him a bit of a revamp for my story, making him more relevant and giving him an actual birthday because DUDE, seriously?
He's so unimportant in that show that he doesn't even have basic data?? Like, even people whose age is completely unknown and irrelevant get the treatment of having a birthdate (like Kaguya), but you're telling me Shinki wasn't even worth THAT? My god.
I'll be honest though, I just found that out earlier today, before that he was just kinda uninteresting to me, because that's just how little the writer's care about him. I feel that with my soul. So again, he'll be more relevant in my story, even taking on the role on a main supporting character, though he's not Gaara's son anymore because I don't see any reason to make that happen.
What exactly I'm going to do with him-- I'll just make a journal on that or something because it's essentially his entire character aside from his abilities and design.

Well I mean, that's because he is
It's just that that's basically all we know about him. His backstory is "Gaara adopted him" and even when Temari first mentions him, she's just like "Gaara adopted a son. I literally just met him recently. He's strong."
I'm just asking myself why the hell she didn't know about Shinki before and how tf Shinki and Shikadai (couSins!) never met before when Gaara and Kankuro were visiting Konoha.
Then again, I guess Shinki doesn't care about going to Konoha because he's kind of arrogant and nothing else, really.
I just wish they made him actually interesting and unique but apparently that's just not possible.

hmm I guess Gaara discovered shinki as an orphan, saw his Magnet release and because of that he adopted him.
Originally to be a teacher for him, but because Gaara has no own child he decided to officially make him his son,
so he could offer him better living conditions and ensure the "succession of the throne" too.
Sooo yeah he´s more a teacher, not a real family, so there are no real emotional connection to the
other parts of the family. And also we don´t know when he adopted him.
Maybe there was no "family meeting" between the adoption and the chunin exams,
so Shinki had no possibility to meet Shikadai and so on... (besides he doesn´t care - why should he?)

I mean I know Shinki's backstory. Why else would I say I don't like the way he was written? I also never said that he was his biological son and never thought he was...
Anyway, I just don't appreciate how he was written in the show and want to stay as far away from it as I can in my own story. That's why his backstory or why or when Gaara adopted him is actually not important to me whatsoever, because he's not going to be his son, adopted or biological doesn't matter.
I was just bothered by the fact that he isn't actually treated like a part of the family in the show because I want to believe Gaara would actually try to be a decent parent.

Maybe Gaara DID try indeed, but because of his own background he´s not that successful?
