I was looking at the kittens eat your soul thing. I saw this and clicked on it
Why do people abuse their pets or wildlife? Giant Pandas might go extinct because people hunt them for their pelts. Most animals that are extinct are that way because of humans.

Well.. I support Animal Welfare.
One reason being that animals will never have rights.

Keep dreaming. Accept responsibility. Don't justify the genocide.

I think there should be animal welfare, not rights.... Rights is animals VOTING.
but it's a common misconception, so I understand and hope that you do too! ^^
(and just to clear things up, I'm not trying to start an argument I'm just being a dictionary. )

Actually, animal rights means the right to live. (: This is how vegans and animal rights activists define it, because obviously animals don't want to vote, but they do want to live without abuse. ^^

I disagree. Animals can not have rights. They are not like humans.
Yes, animals have emotions but do they have the same emotions as humans? I doubt it.
If you think animals have emotions you are just anthropomorphizing them, meaning you are applying human emotions to them.

Are we other animals? Nope.
We too are animals.
Just because we have a higher intelligence level, etc. doesn't mean they don't have feelings.

They can feel sorrow just as much as a human can. They can become depressed just as a human can. They can feel joy just as a human can.
And they DO deserve some rights. The right to not be killed for "convenience" or "sport" are probably the biggest ones.

i agree with Tibb Wolf and if you (lord of stamps) do not believe animal can have emotions as complex as humans it is because you never paid attention to them, because you don't know them.
I am a scientist, i do not apply anthropomorphism, and everybody just knows that animals actually have emotions, feelings, thoughs etc.
Moreover : the right to have right is not base on the abillity to have emotions : your argument is not really valid i think.

Hunting for food I don't have too much of an issue with so long as the whole animal/as much as possible goes to use. Hunting for sport, though, sickens me. ._.

I support animal rights, too.
Not that animals should vote, but animal welfare means that animals still can be abused as products. So yeah... animal rights it is for me! nice stamp!

Animal rights and animal welfare are completely different things. Rights would mean that animals would be able to vote, there would be no pets, and people would never be able to eat meat.
Animal welfare, however, means that animals would be humanely treated, animal cruelty would be banned, and people would be able to keep them as pets, etc.

• Claim: People have greater mental capacities than animals and cannot measure up to us. Therefore giving animals rights would demean humanity and we must reject animal rights.
• Claim: We do not use or abuse people who are severely mentally retarded or in a permanent vegetative state. Many animals have mental abilities far better then these people. So we should not withhold rights from animals.
