i see a guy who's really fantastic both inside and out. i dont know you personally so i cant say for sure but... you look like the sort of person who's really beautiful but also has a really nice personality which is rare to find. but you have secrets...most of which you probably don't want to tell everyone and i totally understand. kinda like you're afraid of being hurt...

- I refuse to believe what the person above has said simply because in anyone's mind this picture can be unique.
A definition can add anything to a picture. A feeling of what an artist wants conveyed can be perceived by any number of people- and I simply don't care what they think. So my person opinion is that this picture is utterly wonderful.
I love how there is just enough blur to bring out the color in your hair.
The problem I see with the comment above is that- despite popular belief, This style was more popular back 10 years ago, now is more common to find people looking " gothic lolita " or " emo " - " screamo " - however you would call it.
I love this personal look because it's something I haven't seen in ages, and that I fell in love with at an early age. I wish more men would take pictures like this <3 more please?

First of all, the Emo trend only started this millennium. The Look you are talking about was punk, which dated around late 1970/early 1980, i think started by the band 'Sex Pistols' and it is extremely different from today's emo fad. But that wasn't even the point. The point is it is a fad, and so many of today's youth is seeking asylum from pop culture to be unique when ironically they all join another boxed up group and look exactly the same to each other.
Again we are off topic, this is not art... this is what 1appelz said 'cute pic'... exactly that, its a picture, a snap shot. A blur is not an artistic choice when everything is blurred. It can be used to emphasize the subject in the foreground by blurring the background. Look, i can go on with this discussion forever, but i don't have time to quarrel with people suffering from teen-angst.
To ticktock emo boy: here is a creative criticism. Leave photos like these in your scraps and post something worthwhile. One that you have set up the shot, played with the lighting, think of the composition and colors, something with a deep meaning that you want to portray. I was a teen once too, and i had a lot in my mind that i wanted to express. Sure i didn't wear girl's make up to do so, but i did it through writing and photography, and playing pranks on the administration of my high school. Take your teen-angst, your anger against society and authority and express it with some ART, that's why you're here right? Set up a scene, and take a photo of that.

Wasn't trying to bash on you - was simply trying to say that anything can honestly be art. It just depends on the taste of someones " preverbial " tongue. I could care less if he was an emo boy or whatever he's shooting for in style. I agree that something like this probably should go in a self portrait category - but I feel the words could have been a bit less critical.
So it's not the most amazing picture in the world - but unfortunately every picture taken isn't going to be the best. I still like it for the simple things. So yeah it's blurry, and yes I know how to get that effect too - but for one reason or another he apparently likes the picture enough to submit it as a deviation yes?
My skills of a photographer are lacking - all I could have done with such a picture is maybe editted out the background and smudged stuff around, maybe tried to give him defined wings or something and thats it. As is I'm trying to do a cheshire cat manipulation of my friend's ex boyfriend, but the point is not this.
I'm not trying to be a fan girl - I'm just trying to say that art is different to every person and where as two people may have the same opinion on it- heck 50 people might have the same, but anothe 50 might still think of it differently. You yourself have every right to say it's not art, but I have every right to say it is, that doesn't make either of us wrong it just makes out opinions different.
