for the FEZ contest, he is a warrior and the sword is excalibur like the one in the rock but this one is in the water and he is the chosen warrior to wield the sword that will grant him the power to defeat any enemiydrawing and shading armor is so hard without any reference but i kinda managed to make it look like a solid armor i think,and the water effect was tricky too but also came out pretty weel and it was my first time drawing water
para cel concurso de FEZ , un caballero y la espada es excalibur como la de la espada en la piedra, pero esta esta en el agua y el es el escogido para usarla y asi derrotar a cualquier enemigo
dibujar ysombrar metal es bastante dificil y mas sin referencia, pero creo q lo hice ver como una armadura bastante solida despues de todo, y el agua tambien fue algo nuevo para mi, aunke tiene su cierto truco ya q uno lo agarra no es tan dificil

There are two major differences between traditional and digital. Your work is of a different medium compared to this work. You're starting to be the asshole, be happy you've been selected as a semi-finalist and leave it as that.
And as I remember you quoting "If we start valuing a piece on how long it took someone to create, then we miss the entire point of art" so why make a comment stating something you talked about yourself, sounds almost hypocritical.

Exactly. It's an extremely asshole-like thing to say, isn't it? And I bet the artist doesn't appreciate it. Because in all honesty, I can see the value in his image and his design, and I can tell he put at least some degree of thought and effort into it (time not being a factor in my opinion), even if it isn't exactly my taste.
This was a point I was hoping to make upon/depending on his response, but I suppose I can make it now and assume that he reads this. It's rude and unpleasant to leave worthless, insulting comments on people's art, and to call it "critique" is adding insult to injury. In a perfect world, he will learn something, though the world is not perfect so I can only hope he does so anyway.

actually it took me like 7 or 8 hours with a sore hand, no reference used and first time drawing metallic stuff out of my head the way light behaves on metal is just so unpredictable and random so it is quite difficult, and the water too ,but i talk of other works that were very good the anatomical knowledge was vey precise ,the shading, light reflections etc... something that i see lacked on your piece thats why i call it simple, but its good in its own way i guess so dont get me wrong and as i said i apologize if i was rude cause i do that sometimes without realizing it and its not my intention
