Description

The Pampuvian Python is a descendant of the Reticulated Python, and is mostly unchanged from its ancestral state. Its huge size and hunting method are already well adapted for tropical jungles, so it has only evolved in a few small ways.

The Pampuvian Python has a wide range in size, as short as 2 meters and as long as 7. This is slightly larger than the Reticulated Python it evolved from, making it the longest snake in the world. It rarely exceeds 250 lbs though, making it slightly lighter. It has a slightly more active hunting style: rather than simply waiting for prey to approach, it will wait near a source of food for other animals, such as a carcass or berry bush, and watch for an animal to approach. It will move to a new site every few days, to keep its scent from building up. The overall strategy is the same, but it puts more effort into it.

Pampuvian Pythons are not very good climbers, or at least do not typically climb unless forced. They are however exceptional swimmers, but because of the active aquatic predators they rarely enter the water. They spend most of their time waiting for prey, and when digesting they will hide in tree roots or rocks.

Both sexes are approximately the same size, and have the same color patterns. They breed once every few years, and lay eggs in rocks or roots. The young hatch after 3 months, and immediately scatter into the undergrowth. They feed on insects and lizards until they are grown enough to consume larger prey.
