Today is the 28th of June 2014 and uppon this day we remember what that happened exactly 100 years ago.

After the Berlin-Congress 1878 it was decided that the Ottoman province Bosnia-Hercegovina would fall to the hands of Austria Hungary. The neighbour nation Serbia felt threatened by the Austrian-Hungarian Empire and serbian nationalists feared that their independance as a nation would be threatened by the austrians. When archduke Franz Ferdinand (1863-1914, the shot soldier) and his wife Sophie von Chotek (1868-1914, the female medic) visited the new province in 1914 and would parade for the citizens the serbian nationalists striked. At the 28th of June 1914 two assassination attempts happened. The first one was when one of the terrorists tried to attack the austrian visitors with a bomb. This however failed. Later that day they suddenly were shot by the serbian nationalist Gavrillo Princip (1894-1918, scout in black suit) and died. This enraged the politicians of Austria-Hungary who decided to declare war against Serbia. These events would lead to a chain reaction of countries declaring war uppon each other and would eventually lead to World War 1 (1914-1919).
